When 77-year-old Siu Chen got bored during the pandemic, she decided to start a restaurant cooking the Indonesian food she was making at home. Among her most popular dishes are her fried chicken, lontong sayur, rendang, yellow rice, and more. The: As much as I love rendang, nasi goreng, mie goreng and satay, they have become the cliche dishes people use to introduce Indonesian cuisine to foreigners, even it is more than just those dishes.
Clearly, this restaurant is either for homesick Indonesians or non-Indonesians with adventurous tastebuds. It is not for non-Indonesians with preconceived notions.

The title of the video is a bit tricky
Making good food and being named chef is two different things, supposly chefs followed a school
Undoubtedly she's cooking delicious following the consequences, but doing school in those times is a bit exaggerated
As I said undoubtedly she's cooking great and is no doubt about it, but I feel someone try to trick me with the title
This is only my thoughts, and I believe I can still express them free

My mother also cooks all these dishes straight from her mind, nothing is written out on a recipe. The cooking has been passed down from generations, and now I have slowly started learning these recipes as well by cooking together. Especially my favorite dish, rendang!

I ve been there few times and I have to say that it is one of my favorite Indonesian restaurants in So Cal. She sell delicious and authentic Indonesian dishes and goodies. Come early though, because food sells out quickly. Thank you for doing a piece on her.

I think we should appreciate then she still has the drive to do so much considering she moved to LA when she was already in her 50s! I can't even imagine how hard it is for her initially when she moved.

Gila 77 tahun! Tiap hari masak porsi segitu banyak lagi. Capek nya kayak apa itu. Gua masak buat family sendiri kurang lebih 2 - 3 jam plus cleaning sekalian udah capek apa lagi porsi gede gede gitu. Tetep semangat grandma siu!

Just info, She is originally from city called Medan. One of the best destination for culinary tourism in indonesia. the food was so great colonel sanders stop selling chicken and start cooking noodles!

damn this hits hard, she loves cooking, being with her family and make other people happy with her food which makes her happy. shes living her life. I wish I can live my life when I get old

It's almost Hari Raya and some of these dishes are what we have on the table for our festivities.
This just makes me so excited for Hari Raya now.
And I just want Nasi Sambal Goreng now.
