The relationship between Italy and Ethiopia is quite interesting. Even when the fore tried to make the latter one of its colony, Italians didn't consider Ethiopians as inferior to them or in some way worse due to their skin color or where they're from (opposed to how the French, Germans and British viewed the inhabitants of their colonies) but as brothers. Even during fascism the inhabitants of the Abyssinia (Ethiopia) were seen the same way, both by the population and fascist propaganda. Hence why Ethiopians living in Italy and Italians living in Ethiopia are treated with great regard. P. S. and yeah, Ethiopian food is really good.

Ethiopia has never colonized. King Minlik the second defeated Italy in one day fight then after so many years they came back again to take revenge during king Haileselase time and control AA but most part of the country was under the control of Ethiopian patriots and finally the patriot defeated Italy again after 5 years fight and a lot of sanctification. 5 years was the war season not the colonization time.

Ethiopia was never colonized and in fact Ethiopia and Liberia are the only 2 African nations not colonized. Ethiopia was occupied by Italy for a few years but colonized never. Cause the national toungue is Amharic and not Italian. Italy tried to colonize Ethiopia but failed moserably. Selassie I whooped they asses something serious and sent them boys home packing.

We were not colonized for 5 years, the Italians OCCUPIED Ethiopia for 5 years! There is a big difference between occupied & colonized! This lady needs to understand her history! An Ethiopian saying we were colonized for 5 years is sad! Sheesh.

I lived in Rome and outside Rome. As much as I like Italian food I always dislike the fact that in Italy the appreaciation for food from other cuisines is quite poor. Thus this video is pretty great if you think about that!

I really appreciate you guys always covering a plethora of cultures/flavors, it really opens me up and makes me a little less intimidated of (my) unknown. Looking forward to try the Ethiopian restaurant in my city now! :)

Ethiopian food in my opinion is bland boring and looks like vomit and feces. My least favorite foods. I know people will hate on me for my opinion but not everyone can like everything all the time.

egalitarian food what the hell is that supposed to mean? I mean aren't all cuisines egalitarian? I don't think any cuisine has gold leafs or truffles listed as everyday food

Hey Lucas & Eater! A 5 minute Lucas fix is far too brief. Please stretch these out to 10 minutes or so. After all, this isn't. 'Snacker'. Thanks in advance!
