We spiked/plugged watermelons in college all the time except always used Everclear (cheap. The coolness of plugging a watermelon is that it allows you to slice and eat your beverage but it has to sit 24 hours to absorb the liquor. I really like this technique for instant watermelon slushies.

If you watch the vodka bottle, you see that very little got into the watermelon - it sits at the side nearly full at the end. Besides, if you're going to make slushies anyways, dump in the bottle after.

place the bottle on the table and put the watermelon on the bottle. Also, none of the wodka went in, it takes a long time (day or longer) for it to penetrate the watermelon.

I say put the watermelon drink in the bag and freeze it like you did the other. The content should be low enough like the wine cooler to freeze some.
