Today in the test kitchen, Esther Choi is testing out the Grilled Cheese Toaster by Nostalgia. At 20 the device is not going to break the bank, but is there any reason to have this thing anywhere near your kitchen or dorm room?

If I can make a suggestion, please just embrace the hate. I don't mean the hate from the comments, I mean hate for the products. Go bonkers, go reality TV bonkers with the host holding a cast iron skillet to her chest while in a rotating platform. Hate the products and try your everything to prove that it sucks THEN at the end of the video lighten it up a bit and say how it could be good. This is of course a funny video I'm saying, when I say hate I mean in a comedic way. In any case for some reason people don't like this series and I have no idea why, but just go all the way I suppose.

Just imagine going to someones hohse for dinner, their digging through their harboiled egg maker, their hot dog maker falls to the ground, their mac and cheese maker falls too, and finally they get to their Grilled Cheese making machine. Here's a CRAZY concept. A skillet and a pan can make all of these, and hundreds of more things, take up way less space, and taste way better: ) crazy right? These pretentious gadgets are ridiculous and a waste of money

These are common in my country (Netherlands). I have a stainless one. It's just a regular toaster with the option to make grilled cheese. I mostly make regular toast with it. Also, mine pinches the bread at the bottom so that the cheese doesn't leak out. If it does, you can slide out the crumb catcher on the bottom. Easy to clean.

This is just toast and cheese. You can accomplish the same thing by making toast, putting some cheese between two slices, and then microwaving it for like 10 seconds. I make it all the time as a quick toasted cheese for my nephew when I don't feel like dragging out a pan. Buying a whole separate appliance for this is just silly.

Ohhh FFS that's not even close to grilled cheese. Which bit is grilled? Which bit of your stoopid pan fried cheese sandwich is grilled. Dammit stop perverting english - grilled is grilled, fried is trucking fried! Oh and eat more beef!

That thing is gonna get gross real quick with the cheese drippings. Better off using a normal pan. It wont even stick since you normally spread a fat on the outer part of the bread to get that nice crisp. Love Esther's reviews tho!

I've been making my Grilled Cheese in a Regular Toaster for Years and I'm actually on a Grilled Cheese Diet: ) I was honestly hoping you would compair this to a regular toaster and prove you can grill cheese in a normal toaster.

Need way better bread such as Artisan style whole grain or multi grain. perhaps German style and real cheese on GRILL or griddle plus would also recommend a slice of pickle in the sammie. Cast Iron griddle works best for me

Where I'm from, literally all toasters are like that, and they're not sold as grilled cheese toasters. As always, some American company discovered a foreign toaster and found a way to sell it for more money

Have done the same thing with a regular toaster. Just squish flat and make sure no cheese is popping out from bottom of bread. Presto perfect grilled cheese no extra machine! Works well to add ham.
