I thought I had already found my last great chocolate cake recipe! I must try this, your explanation of not adding to much air to the batter, or should I say, -let the baking soda and powder do its job, - made so much sense. I'm a self-taught cook and baker and that is sometimes a handicap and I miss out on some of the details. For the life of me, I don't understand why internet trolls feel they have to leave either negative comments or a thumbs down for anything, just move along and go away. We don't need all the extra negativity on top of the mess the world is in already, Peace and thanks Emma, your cheerfulness and tidy kitchen will reward you!

Hi Emma, I never realised that I needed to buy a large tub of heavy cream. I bought a small tub. But I did have some ganache left over. However, my ganache is not as light as yours and I used the same amount of chocolate too. Maybe because the quantity of cream werent as much. I just realised, I used normal cocoa powder. The store never had unsweetened cocoa powder. Would that make a difference to the colour of the cake? -After watching the video again, I did not whip the ganache. I was too tired. I just stirred it around with a spatula then spread the ganache. The cake still looked nice though. I will taste it later. -I hope you are well and safe x

I made this cake today for my sisters 14th birthday and Iv never really felt that any of the cakes Iv made in the past have been up to scratch. But I will not go any further than this page for cakes anymore! My whole family was impressed and it finished soo quick. I have got to say it-s the best cake Iv ever made and it was soo soft and moist. Thank you for sharing your recipe xx

I love the minimalist look of your videos and your cakes look great, I'm in the process of choosing one of your recipes for my daughter's birthday cake ---I do wonder if I can use coconut cream or yogurt instead of heavy cream since I don't have that where I'm at, I'm still going through your videos but do you have any substitute vids? Anyways I'm going to find out -

Love your videos. Just wondering out of curiosity, would this ganache be good for decorating character cakes? I'm planning to do your black forest cake for my boyfriend's birthday and decorate it as his favourite cartoon character which happens to be brown. Could I also add something to the frosting such as cherry extract?

Hi Emma, I made vanilla cake for my niece's birthday last month and everyone loved it! So now I'm about to make a chocolate cake for my mum's birthday. -But I'm making a smaller cake so I'll be using a 6- cake tin. What size of tin are you using? It's important so I know how much ingredients to reduce

Emma i just want to say thank you so much for sharing your recipes! I've always been a failure at baking cakes from scratch forever but ever since I've started to follow your Vanilla and Chocolate cake recipe, it was really very good and my family is very proud! Thank you so much --

I just made this cake this mornibg for my chocilate-lover daughter's birthday and it turned out great. I was afraid of it being too sweet however it had just the right amont of sweetness and the rich chocolate frosting balanced it all. Definitely a keeper!
