First of all. I don't even understand why one would even go to Subway to get a tuna sandwich. Other than just being lazy, tuna sandwiches are the EASIEST thing to do! This is the SAME way I've always done my tunas since I was a kid. Nothing new here. That's why it surprises me that people don't know this. You'd figure by it being the cheapest sandwich at Subway, that was a good tip that there wasn't much to it.

I was a manager at 3 different Subways. The secret to ours was good tuna in a pouch, not canned. All liquid removed and tuna broken up fine with gloved hands. Then it's a 2: 1 ratio of lite mayo. Most of the time they don't measure. You can just tell when it's enough mayonnaise. More tuna than mayo. Then let sit in a cold place for tuna to absorb moisture from mayo.

Thanks so much! I have wondered what's in their tuna salad. It doesn't really look like it has much in it, so this makes sense. .I have to say that Subway's bread is essential. I will have to start checking out different brands of rolls and see if I can find something just as yummy.

Yes! Subway was my first job, from ages 15 to 18. The Subway tuna is legit just tuna and mayo. It's more like tuna spread, but people love it! I remember squeezing as much water from the tuna as possible, opening those big bags of mayo, and making batches of it. Those were the days!

You're almost right! Restaurants actually use heavy duty or extra heavy mayonnaise that you can only buy at restaurant supply places in 1 gallon jars. You can get a similar taste using Japanese Kewpie mayonnaise though. The secret is. extra egg yolks, that's it!

I used to eat it most times I went to Subway. But heard too many bad things about it now! Wow! Now I can make my own. Thanks. Just not sure I want that much mayo. I always got black olives, banana peppers and cheese. Thanks so much, I'm gonna try it

People say they'll never go to ________ after learning how to make it but they still go.
Because in general most people are lazy and aren't willing to make it from scratch themselves.
For example: Bread. Its just salt/water/flour and yeast.

Yummy I love tuna salad. Mama I watched your live cooking last night! You did great. I had to look up what fideo Loco was, I love fideo. One of our dinners we had growing up in our home. Thank you. Takes me back home. memories of my Mom and Dad.

I preferred Subway over other sandwich shops because they use a lot of veggies and have a good variety of sauces/dressings, but I stopped going when they replaced the pepperjack cheese with pepper american. That's gross. It ruins the whole sandwich

Too much mayo, masks the other ingredients. Also too sweet. Here's mine - chop tuna with a knife first. 1/2 mayo to 1 tuna. Juice of one lime or lemon. Sliced green onions. Sliced celery for crunch. Garlic salt to taste.

Under Formaldehyde Joe aka Reverend Cain from the Poltergeist movies regime CREEPY, I can't afford to even eat at McDonald's anymore or a Subway!
Thank you ever so much for sharing your recipes with us.

FYI: When using vinegar and oil on anything ALWAYS add the vinegar first. It will flavor the other ingredients. Adding the oil first coats them with the oil so the vinegar just beads up and rolls off.

Now I see why I hated Subway tuna. I barely use any mayonnaise for my tuna or no mayo if I use tuna in extra virgin olive oil.
I do like the idea of using bolillo for the bread, it sounds delicious.

My husband said he couldn't get Black Olives at a subway in Corpus Christi a couple weeks ago. Apparently they stopped ham and black olives. Tysm for this recipe bc he said he's never going back.

I watch you on an older IPhone and lately I can’t see what you’re making because all I see is your head because of how you’re filming. It’s a bit annoying. Can you change back please

First of all, love your content! My kids and I watch you all the time. So, without sounding rude - can I ask why you call it tuna fish Is Tuna not sufficient I’m genuinely asking.
reply

I'm not trying to be mean. But subway tuna fish is so disgusting. They don't use good tuna and the texture is awful. Lacks seasoning. It's more expensive but use the good tuna.

I had one recently in Salton City and it cost me well over$17! Not worth it, I will follow you're advice and make my own. Oh by the way, it was a small 6 inch sandwich.
reply

Well, my tuna fish is better than Subway anyway and I make it with.
Dill pickle or an onion or I make it with sweet pickle and onso either way it's way better

Ow thank you! That was my favorite sandwich to get there but I heard that it wasn’t even tuna so I stopped going there. Now I need to try this. Thank you so much girl!
