Hello Mark, you should link up with Estelle from Radio One, she will show you around, if Christophe was there it would be dynamite the three of you, theres a guy who did Fer Goute called Kevin he is good too. The Mahebourg tour is okay but the food inventory in Mau is vast. It will not be fair to limit your stay there to just that. The a lots of sites, markets, historical places. Briani is a culinary masterpiece and the variety all throughout the island is endless, the flavour is unique and different at every location, same with dholl puri. It is a national custom of who makes and sell the best food. The other creole dishes as well such as poisson salee, marlin, lenti, satini, all the greens, vegetables and their freshness are massive in Mau, try Angle Luffa, try all the local fish in all types of dishes, Octopus, also go to Rodrigues, try the heart of palms, bread fruit, jack fruit curry, all the Rotis. You need someone with culinary awareness. The Prime minister should have sent a food ambassador for your stay, your contribution is immense. Go to Port Louis at night the street food is crazy, there's a hotel called Pakistan, gilled food, the atmosphere in Port Lois at night Fri, Sat is electric. Go eat a dhall puri at Bye and Dewa in Rose Hill, try halim, ti pourri, 7 carry, try the tamils food massive variety on a banana leaf. Try the local French patisserie as well all the Tarts, Tarte banane at Plaine Magnien

I can't believe you came to Mauritius, man! Btw, you gotta try some mine bwi gros pois (Noodles with Butterbean curry) you're either gonna love it or hate it.
Also, you should try various regions' food because different places have different ways of preparing it. Also please eat some good NAPOLITAINES. It's a dessert that is surprisingly rare outside of the country, apparently. Have a nice stay!
Also, if you could visit D&D snack in reduit I think that would be awesome!

Lol about the Trinis in the Comments - Hey mark forgot us in Trinidad. Trinidad Tourism board paid Mark to do a series of videos which he did really well. Mark is a marketing organization that goes wherever the money is. Of course there are some organic videos but i doubt Trinidad was on that list. Look at how he is eating Roti and Doubles just like Trinidad and he acts like he has never tasted this before, to the disappointment to Trinidadians.

The sweets and the dumplings were industrial made, poor guide unfortunately.
This island has so much more to offer than just this. Im expecting another video to be released but this first one is a let down. I'd help but he's probably out of the island already. The guide couldn't explain half of the foods and made up stuff at different points. As a local, wouldn't recommend this tour guide.

Mark, did you realize that Mauritius and Trinidad has almost the same food. The history of both countries are very similar although on different sides of the world. The ethnicities are also the same hence the food. They say Dhol Pourie, we say Dhal Pourie. Amazing how history can cause such similarities.

That restaurant where you ate the noodles is a lot like some Malaysian restaurants. You have cuisines of different cultures and origins all cooked and served in one place. What a wonderful place to visit

Had I have known Mark was coming to Mauritius, i would've gotten in contact to provide a deeper culinary experience. Julien did an alright job. Just wished Mark had gotten a better multicultural exposure.

I am often asked what Mauritian food is and I do not know how to explain. Now I can direct them to this, and it says it all Thank you! I discovered your videos as my mum is a huge fan: -)

The Indian sweet which was reddish in colour is not definitely a 'rasgulla' its can be called gulab jamun or a bengali sweet called 'pantua'. Rasgulla/Rosogolla has to be white in colour.
