Get more details about eating at this restaurant in Bangkok here: Hia Wan Khao Tom Pla ) is an excellent restaurant in Bangkok that specializes in serving khao to pla, which is rice soup with fish. As opposed to congee, which is more like a porridge, khao tom is a rice thats fully cooked, but then boiled in soup, so the grains of rice remain in tact instead of getting stick like in congee. To begin our meal at Hia Wan Khao Tom Pla )I had the Khao tom pla gao, Thai rice soup with brown marbled grouper. The thing I immediately noticed is that the fish was very fresh - it had no fishy taste, and the fish was firm and had a wonderful flavor. Additionally, the sauce was also very good, made with fermented soy beans. Next we tried their goong ob woon sen, mung bean noodles cooked with shrimp in a little personal pan. Its not the best version that Ive had in Bangkok, but it was still pretty good - and the shrimp were giant in size, which made the dish even better. The shrimp dipped in the Thai seafood sauce was fantastic. We also tried their tom yum pla kapong, tom yum soup made with fresh pieces of barramundi. Just like the rice soup, the tom yum was very fresh and the pieces of fish were firm and delicious. But the actual soup was a little on the sweet side for me - still good and I especially just liked the big pieces of fish. Finally, the best dish for me, along with the khao tom, was the Luak jim ruam mit, a dish of a variety of seafood just boiled and topped with a handful of crispy garlic and Chinese celery. Its a plain dish, and then you just take the seafood and dip it into the Thai seafood sauce for flavor. The dish was excellent, all the seafood was extremely fresh. Everything that Hia Wan Khao Tom Pla ) serves is on the plain side, and so the freshness of the seafood really cant be covered up by anything. So you can be assured that they serve fresh seafood, and they do a good job at serving what they do. I really liked all the fish, and the seafood sauce to go with is. I am heading to Thailand in a couple months for a couple months. Like you and many others, I am a huge foodie and will ultimately try anything (except from that one place you had the poorly cooked intestine skewer. I have been jotting down the locations of all these great places to eat at. It would be a great idea to create a digital map full of pins that indicate the locations of restaurants which you have visited and/or recommended in your vlogs. Anyways, fantastic videos. They always get me in the mood to eat.

Your video is so natural, it present what the food looks like in real life like no other. The restaurants you picked is also interesting. Watching your video is like walking on the street by myself. Keep doing what you do Mr. Mark, it make people happy.

For the people who keep on saying that marks foodgasm face is disturbing. That is his signature. It's his Michael Jordan hanging his tongue out during a dunk. It's his steve jobs with a black turtle neck and black jeans. It's a brand that allows him to stick out and be well signified as the face of migrationology. He loves what he does even though sometimes it can be repetitive so stop hating

This has been a magnificent natural pharmacy on a plate and bowl, with the owner saving the best to last. Greens, fish. squid, garlic and lime juice all fresh without hidden sauces, just a treat for the eye, taste buds and satisfying to the belly-SIGHIs this a taste of home? Now I will try out this recipe but as ever poorly. And as always, more please

We tried Pe Aor and we like it. it will be on our return list when we return to Bangkok the next round. But for this evening, Hia Wan Khao Tom Pla shall take centerstage. Thanks Mark

Wow look at the size of all the seafood I think the best way to try seafood is not to overseason it. the simple seasoning must be just right That first dish, a bowl of fish and rice soup looked so comforting. I would love to try Oh, I can see you got your haircut done also, ha: ) Thanks for sharing, I tweeted x
