In Malaysia Kuay Teow means the wide rice noodles (that comes in a sheet, which you usually cut into strips) - I get the impression it's not used that way in Thailand. Is this correct? It's used in many ways - fried (Kuay Teow Goreng, with broth (Kuay Teow Sup, etc. And there's the famous Penang Char Kuay Teow - fried in a wok with the fire going full tilt. The term Kuay Teow is almost certainly Thai in origin - I'd be surprised if it's not. Iskandar

Hello Mark and Yeng. I have been following your blog recently in the last week. I am very impressed by how you present your food and travel blog. I was born in the Philippines and was heart-sick homesick watching places you've been to and ate well. Mark, where originally are you from? You sounded like you were raised in USA. .I am just watching the vlog you have in Si Lom 20 vlog. I am hungry watching all the good food you are having.

I'm confused about the dress code Mark for the bar. You mentioned long pants and long sleeves as a requirement but I notice the you and the other men wear short sleeves and/or T shirts. I'd love to visit this place but I hate long sleeves especially in the tropics and won't go if they require long sleeves.

August 31, 2016 (Wednesday)Interesting street foods. Too much chilis, though. Bitter melon in your video is Ampalaya here in the Philippines. It's usually eaten with rice here but I'll try it with noodles. How do you cook the bitter melon there? Maribel L. ChungCity of AntipoloPhilippines
