Camera I use: my Stockholm travel guide for food lovers: On Day 19 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance, we had a morning fika (Swedish coffee break, and enjoyed some seriously delicious cinnamon buns. After visiting the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, we then went to a garden restaurant and I had and incredibly delicious shrimp salad. It was a relaxing and another wonderful day visiting Stockholm, Sweden. 1: 00 Fika at Valhallabageriet Bakery - Theres a term in Sweden thats called fika, which means to have a coffee break. And not only does it just mean to have a coffee, but it also has is a deep part of Swedish culture. So to begin the day, Ying and I headed over to a bakery called Valhallabageriet Bakery to have a fika, and I bought a cinnamon bun, a cardamom bun, and a coffee. We arrived pretty early, so the bakery was still nice and quiet and located in a beautiful area of town. The cinnamon bun and cardamom bun were easily the best Ive ever had. Im not a huge baked good lover or a sweets lover, but these were on the next level. It was a very successful fika in Stockholm

the shrimp looks like crawfish to me. we twist them out ot the shell and slide the back meat some to remove the back vein. They have them on the chinese buffets here and it is a chore getting the meat out and then i end up with a few bites of meat after the chore and i like the meat in hot butter, but it is almost as good as lobster in flavor and so worth it.

Mark, I think the only reason why you ate at a pretty place was because Stockholm does not have any dirty hawker places you usually eat at on your food adventures. The whole city is so pretty Even the traditional market can be considered a high end supermarket where I am LolollA holiday in Sweden will cost me a lifetime of saving it seems. The prices My goodness.

Fika means for most of us, that you chill with a cup of coffe(or anything else you like) with a sandwish or cookie(or cake, or instead of coffe, perhaps lemonade or soda. or even water. it has nothing to do with coffe at all. Fika is just a situation or a break of something. to take it easy and relaxe with a drink(without alcohole) and a cookie. :P

Actually the Wasa started from the royal palace but it only got a few hundred meters before it capsized from a gust of wind. All the gunports were open so when the wind made the ship turn over it quickly filled with water and sank. But in shallow water so that the masts were visible from the palace, so the king had someone cut them off. :-)

If you ever come to sweden again then come to my house and we can eat some real good swedish food. You spend waaaaaay too much money on things we eat daily. What you get for 600kr i can make for 100kr and its better tasting. And my mother can make some real traditional cinnamon rolls.

Sorry, Mark, but I have to tell you that your shrimp werent really shrimp. When you said that they tasted more like lobster or crab, you were very close to the truth. they were langostinos. we know them in the US by the name crawfish or crayfish. They are closer to lobsters than shrimp.

Stockholm is generally more expensive than other parts of Sweden, especially dining out for lunch etc. A lunch in Stockholm can easliy be like 130 sek + while in other parts of Sweden you could eat out for like 85-95 SEK. Thanks for visiting Hope you enjoyed our country.

The Vasa ship is a monument to the biggest failure in Swedish naval history. It was built too tall and too narrow so it only managed to sail a few kilometers before a strong breeze blew it over on its side and it sank right there in the harbor inlet.

Hey Mark, do you know the meaning of the word Incredible or do you simply use it always? How often did you eat cinnamon buns all over the world? (before you classified these as the best)In other words: stop overemphesizing, really is starting to irritate
