The Detroit Style Pizza King - Street Food Icons

D’s Pizza is the first and only Detroit-style pizza you can find in the Cayman Islands. The street food truck’s founder, Diego Smith, started researching Detroit style pizza on YouTube while working as a private chef. After pursuing basketball and cooking abroad, Diego moved back to his hometown in the Cayman Islands to master his own culture’s cuisine. By incorporating seasoning pepper, scotch bonnet pepper, Cayman-style beef, and jerk chicken into his recipes, Diego makes sure that Caymanian cuisine and Caribbean culture shines through in each bite of pizza at his food truck. Made possible by the Cayman Islands Department for Tourism. #pizza #detroit #caymanislands #cheese #fastfood Subscribe to MUNCHIES here: Follow MUNCHIES here: TikTok: Facebook: Instagram: Twitter: Threads: More videos from the VICE network:

When the chef from the Caymens knows the sauce goes above the cheese but Detroit chains like Jets, Howies and Caesars can't be bothered to build it properly you get saddened by the fact that someone /-1500 miles away has more respect for local culture than the people buying soggy shit and thinking they like Detroit-style pizza in metro-Detroit. And with Jet's being the worst version they are of course the chain we are exporting to the nation. As we did with Dominos. And Caesars. Ever had a bad/mediocre pizza made in a commercial kitchen Thank Detroit. Ever had the 2nd best pizza style in the US Thank Detroit. Weird dichotomy my city.

I'm from Europe and Detroit style pizza is the goat for me. I love Neapolitana and will forever find it the best meal ever created but when it comes to guilty pleasure there's nothing like Detroit style pizza. This baby destroys NY style in any situation

. if you have to serve your product with a dipping sauce your product is 99. 999% garbage. Lose the three cheese blend. Use Wisconsin brick cheese. More economical, and better tasting. Go to Detroit, and taste the real thing.

I will actually be in the Cayman Islands in two weeks off of my cruise! If I get enough time, I have got to try this place.

Deep dish used to be deep with lots of toppings and still regular bottom crust. modern deep dish is just cheap thick dough with the same amount of toppings. garbage!

Everybody is talking about the color of the video. I don't get it. I like the vibe and color, looks like a old Polaroid. And the food looks amazing! Great video!

imagine doing this small business dirty with no color grading properly. i really liked munchies but im starting to reconsider what i spend my time watching.
reply

People have mentioned the colour grading, someone needs to fix the audio also, very very bass heavy, hard to understand people without turning sound way up.

what intern convinced their boss that they needed to go the CAYMAN ISLANDS to film pizza and why does the video look awful does nobody care anymore
reply

Even though the colour is off, those pizzas still looked damn great. Is it worth spending 1 grand flying to the Cayman Islands for this pizza

I've been to D's as its literally right outside of my university, and I love their pizzas! My favorite is the Chili Garlic Shrimp. So good!

Detroit Pizza is Superior. Hands down. Once I tried it in San Francisco it blew my mind. It's pricey but well worth. Try Joyride Pizza out here.

Mexico is yellow, horror movies are black and blue, and the Caribbean is pale and shadow-less. Also, turn down that obnoxious music.
