If you live in a house or have access to a yard of any sort just start a compost pile. I took on the mentality that if I need to exert a large amount of energy and time into taking my vegetable scraps and turning them into food then it's not worth it. These are all great ideas, but honestly, you can invest them in a much more efficient way, stocks, compost piles, etc. And yea, like one of the comments mentioned, carrot leafs with expensive cheese and roasted nuts. I'd rather just throw the carrot leaves in compost and make proper pesto with home grown basil.

take note of how many ingredients chef used to put to -use- the carrot tops. not economical nor earth friendly Why not use the same carrot tops in a creative way with other ingredients in the garden? Or simple plan your garden with plants which compliment each other in the kitchen? BTW, what was the cost of putting that carrot top to use (not just the ingredients but the energy as well?

I agree with this. I used to just buy a side of beef, end up using just the chuck and oxtail, and leave the rest in my living room to spoil for a few months. Then, a friend told me I could make things like rib eye tacos and sous-vide fillet mingon. Now I save thousands of dollars a month on meat, which is great because I'm just a single guy in Vermont who works at a shoe store.

Wait. the guest who wrote the book on wasting less came to munchies. but then somebody from munchies was showing HER how to use carrot vines and stuff? It stopped being about -how to waste less in the kitchen- and became -how to make garden pesto- pretty quickly. She barely gave any tips at all and the dish they made did not look that efficient.

I think tomato vines and carrot greens are pretty low on the spectrum in regard to food waste. What about creating recipes around common food waste like fruit/vegetable peelings, discarded meat parts, or even byproducts like the water left behind by soaking your own beans?

Ah yes, the problem is the consumers who are wasting their food & not all the supermarkets who over order and often waste food daily. With that being said some of the recipes were interesting and noteworthy. Not quite sure about bashing in a plastic container though?

It seems like you won't actually be getting a lot of this stuff (vines, leaved carrot tops, etc) unless you are gardening them yourself, in which case you could and probably would just be composting all of this, thus not wasting it. Not sure why you have to eat it all.

How to save food - eat the green stuff on top of carrots -as if that's gonna significantly cut down on the waste-, eat the cheese crust -as if that tasted any good-, cut the moldy shit off spoiled veggies and eat the rest -as if that posed no health risk whatsoever-

I dont get why people eat out so much often. Theyve tricked themselves into thinking its cheaper. A typical burger meal is about 10-. A box of frozen burgers and a bag of buns is anywhere from 10--20-. People r just lazy

Freezing a more stuff is a pretty important reminder. -Instead of letting that banana sit and grow old in the fruit basket for one more day, just pop it in the freezer and use it for a dessert in the future.
