The older varieties of Japanese Anemones take over gardens and not only by rhizomes, the seed heads fly far and wide.
Not sure why budleias are seen as a weed here in Nz. The conservation society have actually have spread a weevil to try and kill the beautiful bushes.
Crazy!
I've only seen 2 here, where I live.
I have a lovely fuschia pink budleia, like your plant, which the butterflies love.
I cut mine back quite short, after summer.
I'd love a nine bark, although I've never seen any in the garden centres.

Ive had 4 hollyhocks pop up in my garden last year and never had them before. Now this year the same ones are enormous and I find them popping up all over the garden in spots I dont want them. I think I will cut the seed heads after the blooms are spent and not let them seed my entire yard. They are very pretty when in a spot I like them. I have noticed that quite a few houses in our neighborhood had hollyhocks and those houses this year are overrun with them too.

I like the color of the Ginger Wine Nine Bark. I am in zone 8A which is higher than it is zoned for unfortunately. But if I can located one I think I will give it a try here. It would be a beautiful screen Spring through Autumn. I need to research zone 8 plants for an evergreen screen to place behind the Nine Bark. Everyone Stay Safe and Have a Blessed Week.

I have the white Japanese anemones that are in full south sun. They have done really well in SE Michigan without extra fuss. In the fall, they see spectacular with the white blossoms up against a warm tone used- brick wall. Right next to it I planted a ninebark that died the second spring. Who knows what happens.

Im scared of anemones! The older variety I had took over and Im still trying to get rid of them after 4 years. That double variety is really pretty-just need a space where they can travel. Maybe in my mailbox island where they can fight it out with the purple bellflower-I wonder which one would win lol.

Hey Laura! I absolutely love your videos and you inspire me everyday to dream about my future garden and work towards something I love. Also, I have a suggestion 11: 33 what about planting a willow tree? That way you will see the cut flower garden but it would be like through a secret veil?

Laura I hope you see this. I've been landscaping since I was ten. Yes ten. So now that I'm. 64 I find I still learn a lot from you. Case in point my butterfly bush was awful the first 3 years. I listened to you moved mulch watered less. Omg Laura we stopped counting at 65 blooms amazing.

The South Garden is starting to really take shape! It has been so much fun to watch it develop and learn so much from you. I can only image how much I would learn from even just a week working with you. I would love the space to plant some of these beautiful bigger shrubs.

Laura I know it's your space but please revisit the white garden, I know if you layered it like you are doing now and use different colors of leaves you would have something you love. I try to use white flowering things in my hosta garden
