Shopping For Trees At the Garden Center!
video description
I tried to catch what you called each one so I can do my own research, but it would be super helpful and greatly appreciated if you could list all the ones you looked at, or even zone in on the tag for a moment so we could write down the ones that interest us.

Hi Laura and Aaron, that was such a fun episode today. You guys are like kids in a candy store when you're shopping together for new plants. I'm so happy you're expanding your beech collection. now just one more to go! The Fagus sylvatica is such a majestic tree. Have you considered getting one? Another tree to consider is Robinia pseudoacacia. the golden yellow to chartreuse summer foliage, delicate leaves, open airy form and perfect shade it creates are all wonderful attributes.
Keep up the great work I love your show!

Oh, I love everything! Cant wait to see that cone-shaped maple come into its own - what an incredible variety of goodness you planted. Have you considered planting a River Birch tree? The bark is so eye-catching and I love birch foliage - it just flutters and is so pretty. Growing up on the coast of Maine, our birches held up under high winds from hurricanes and always bounced back beautifully. And Ive read that the River Birch can tolerate high heat and soil that is acidic, neutral or alkaline. Something to consider?

That Apollo Maple Laura! What a find! I feel like i could fit those narrow little fellows in anywhere. The shape is just so gorgeous. I bet you could find five other places in your garden to tuck one in. Are you going to be planting any dogwoods? The tree variety not the shrub variety i mean. A kousa dogwood would look amazing up closer to your house. They bloom for so long! I call mine the fairy tree because it blooms before it leafs out and it looks like a naked tree covered in white fairies in the spring!

The best tree planting experience i ever had was putting in 12 Green Giants during the rain. We were lucky enough to have an abnormally wet spring in 2020 when they went in. They were 6-8 feet tall and now are at least 15 feet tall and have already provided a solid screen for us. I've seen many like ours in surrounding towns and don't compare in size or lushness. I highly recommend planting in the rain or at least run the hose during the whole process to get the root ball as wet as possible.

I love the selection of trees at Andrews! Just amazing! The Purple Fountain Beech is so unique and beautiful. I noticed that it had a bamboo support tied to it. How long will you keep the bamboo support attached to this tree? We are wanting to add more trees to our property, and have noticed the bamboo supports on many of the trees that are at our local garden center. I have always wondered how long they should remain lashed to these supports.

Ooo, Ill have to see if my local nursery has any of those Zafiro blue spruces! We already have 9 trees on our quarter-acre property that are gonna get big (ginkgo, Aspen, two maples, linden, fat Albert spruce, among others, so small things like this could add some cool interest without getting more trees that are gonna be too crowded when they grow. And since winter lasts 6+ months here in SE Idaho, evergreens are always nice.

I keep telling you to check into the Earth Right. It was designed to drain ponds so it works for problem areas. It softens the soil but does not create a soil that will not retain water. It is the best of both worlds. Good stuff. I can say that with first hand knowledge for years and years. Love the tree selections you have made and the stats you share. We have already bought one of the trees you have showcased. Thanks!

So inspiring seeing your property develop! We recently purchased a property that is in need of trees. That has always seemed a bit intimidating planting trees - pricier item that is much more permanent, but watching you guys pick and plant them is so encouraging! One of my worries is the watering schedule for trees. How do you set up and water your newly planted trees? Any tips on that front?
