Avoiding YouTube Burnout! Garden Answer Cindy: Your gardens are so beautiful and vast there is always so much to do you have to tackle all of the chores every day so you may as well share with your viewers (does that sound selfish of me) we hope you do not burn out I for one would miss you all so much. But at the end of the day you do need to be a family and spend time with one another as much as you can because the little one will be going off to school before you know it and you dont want to miss a thing. Thank you for all you do and for being so generous with your fans I look forward to turning on my lap top and watching the latest video whatever the content may be it inspires me to work in my own gardens with so much more enthusiasm.

Fried Green Tomatoes - my method:
1. Mix buttermilk and egg
2. Mix 1 Part Corn Meal and 1 Part Flour in separate bowl
3. Coat tomato slices in batter (I keep the slices slightly on the thin side)
4. Cover (but do not smother) in the corn meal and flour mix
4. Fry in just enough oil to keep them from sticking to the pan
I personally prefer tomatoes that are a lighter green to just turning a touch of yellow. I think that in the early dark green stage tomatoes are just a little too tart. I also avoid frying them so heavy that they get greasy and mushy, but I know many people like them that way. My grandma just to fry them in lard, I just cannot do that.

Don't burn out! Take care of yourselves. If you need a break take it! Some people might feel guilty if they take a day off or time off. Don't fall for that. I would rather not have videos for a few weeks than none at all and never see you all again. You have a lot on your plates AND have a child and one on the way. Sometimes people just get caught up in their work and everyday life and don't take time to sit back and look at the whole picture. Anyway, don't mean to sound preachy but I really appreciate you and what you do.

Fried green tomatoes are easy. On a dinner plate mix 1/2 cornmeal, 1/2 all-purpose flour, salt and pepper. Pour milk in a bowl (helps dry mixture to stick. Dip slices of tomatoes in milk then dredge in dry mixture. In a cast-iron skillet, heat lard or corn oil until 1/2 inch deep and almost smoking. (You'll know its ready when a dollop of the mixture placed in the oil immediately floats) Place tomatoes into oil and cook until brown on both sides. Remove to paper towel on a separate plate to drain. Serve and enjoy.

I would love to see a garden theme Christmas tree and ideas that you would come up with. I love watching your videos, please get all the help you two need so you don't burn out. Whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed I watch your videos and get inspired. Your family is so sweet and I love watching the kitties too. I love the idea that Jenny & Corey came up with for you to make a video montages of how things have changed since you moved in.

Hi Laura - love these recap/Q&A videos - so informative! Im zone 5b and Im wondering if you can do a video on problems with planting shrubs? Over the summer i planted a variegated rhody that ended up suffering because, as I learned from troubleshooting with my garden center, I covered the root flare when I planted, and it was suffocating. Who knew? Anyway, hoping to recover it, but a video on common problems and solutions would be awesome.

I am glad to hear that you and Aaron are getting help to avoid getting burn out. I think that all of us would understand if you had to post a couple less videos a week. I personally would rather live with less of your videos than have none at all if you guys push yourselves too hard. Also, I would LOVE a Garden Answer Calendar if you are considering it! Maybe that would be a bit easier for you guys to put together than a book?

Dear, dear Laura and Aaron, I couldn't be happier to hear you have hired help. I know it's expensive but your health is more important. Heavy housecleaning periodically would also give you some respite from your grueling schedule. You are about the same age as my granddaughter and I worry about you guys. Calendars are a great idea. They would sell like hotcakes. Love you guys. Thanks for making my day.

Hello. I own a Mountain Aloe and one of the leaves has been damaged and I don't know if I should cut the leaf off or leave it on the plant.
It is just a baby Aloe and I know as a generally rule, you aren't supposed to take leaves off Mountain Aloe, but I also don't want to leave a leaf on the plant. Any help from anyone would be great.

My grandmother did a kids tree as well as a regular big one. All the kids would run to it first. She put an antique dollhouse with lots of interesting things inside and of course decorated for Christmas with little wreaths on the windows and a tiny tree by the fireplace. Everything handmade or bought at second hand stores so inexpensive.
