Hi! I'm in zone 8b SW Washington, I want to harvest echinacea seeds from the fall container I planted up this year. The seed heads are starting to dry, but we are in for several days of rain in the forecast and im afraid they will begin to rot. If I cut the seed head off the plant and leave intact, will the seeds still ripen? Thanks in advance if you can provide your advise, love you videos!

Does anyone know if you can harvest zinnia seeds while the flower still has the color but the seeds are dark green? Also the same for cosmos some still have a flower head not dried with black seeds that I dry out on my window sill will they grow or are the seedlings too young? Also my sunflower seeds aren't black are they too young as well?

Thank you so much for the excellent explanation of how to save seeds! I wondered if there is a specific time for saving coreopsis seeds, I've just went out to the garden where they are still blooming but there are some dried seed pods but there are no seeds in them, any explanation as to why? Your help is appreciated. Thanks again!

You made me want to learn how to plant. I am actually harvesting seeds and I am going to plant them instead of spending hundreds of dollars every summer. You showed it is actually fun. Thanks. Clearly, short and fun, plus beautiful blue eyes. Thanks for doing this video, I am sharing it to all my friends.

I knew saving seeds was possible but I was never sure when to collect them to ensure getting viable seeds for next year. Now, on my walks, I can't help eyeing my neighborhood's spent blooms. You've inspired me to see if my neighbors are interested in a seed exchange. Thanks for your great videos!

Hello Laura, Im having a hard time determining the seed from the chaff. I think I have Gazania. Im not sure what those seeds look like. Are seeds ever fuzzy? I wish I could attach pictures here. Have you ever grown those?

I am happy to see this video because I was not going to save my zinnia seeds this year. However, when I start my cleaning up my urban cottage garden I will look for seeds that I love. Thanks for the inspiration!

You should grow some monster or giant sunflowers and roast your own seeds to eat. With Zinnias if you just pull the bottom most petals that is where the biggest seeds are and you won't get all the chaff in the center.
