SOMETHING ATE MINE! Don't feel bad about planting the Dahlias this late. I planted mine in first of May, and they were leafing out lovely with at least 8 inches of growth and I came out to check on them, as I do every day, and they were GONE! Something came in and ate them right to the ground. The only thing I can think of eating them is we have had a rouge skunk in our 'hood. I know it wasn't dear, it's not possible in our yard. Do you know of anything else that would chomp off the stem and leave no trace? Good thing is I can see sprouts coming from the original stem after a week of crying. So they are starting again. I cover them up at night with a bucket and a brick for now.

Hi Laura and Aaron! WOW, that is a lot of dahlias, but from the pictures at the end (thank you for showing them, they will be beautiful! I'm looking forward to your flower arranging. Maybe your Mom can join you, pretty please! Loved when Aaron said he was being cursed for pulling out the sunflower! You guys got s lot done, again, and it was nice seeing Chris (That was Chris wasn't it) out there tending to the other area and helping Aaron aug the holes. He seems to be a really good and hard worker! If that wasn't Chris, did you guys hire more help? Also, saw someone else out there, too. Thank you for sharing!

Have you ever tried leaving one in the ground just to see if they make it through the winter? I had some that I didn't get lifted last year and I was thrilled to see them back this year. (Tennessee zone 7a. I also bought some bagged Dahlias from box stores stores this year. I started them early in pots, to see if I could get a jump on the growing season. It worked! They are in full swing in my garden now.

Do you also have flower fields in America, where people can pic flowers by themselve and throw the mony in a metal box beside the field? You could started something like that. The comen flowers are a lots of gladiolus and smaller parts with sunflowers and sometimes other summer flowers like Cosmos or dahlias, zinia. The prices for the flowers are written on a big sign (is sign the right word.

This video in particular is one of my favorites! NO WONDER you have so many of these plants-they are SO VERY BEAUTIFUL-who could resist all those you showed! I especially loved the music in this video, it was PERFECTLY matched to the activity! You both inspire excitement and energy in this 68 years young-ahem-old gal. Thanks for yet another wonderful visit!

Please come up with a DeerActionPlan. I dug a trench around my Hydrangea and let my English Bulldog go #1 in it. Last year they ate half of it. it is 5 feet deep and 8 wide at least. this year only 2 nibbles. I'm hoping if u make a big elaborate plan. they will continue to stay away. If not. at least u will be ready.

Just yesterday I viewed the first lesson in Erin's (Floret) summer mini series. It was about Dahlias. The message about pinching was reinforced by both of you. Love it. There are so many mixed messages on the internet about gardening, that it is reassuring to hear the same message from gardeners I trust.

I love you guys and start every morning with you! However, I, personally struggled with the choice of music today. I'm sorry. I do hope for a return of what I've always considered to be such peaceful, soothing, good for the soul (gardening) music. Thanks for every other perfect thing you do!
