Planting Bulbs in My Parents Garden! Garden Answer Gardening: You are so inspiring Laura. Ive taken on garden projects this year expanded one garden, just had an old tree ground out to allow for more planting room, build my own bench near my shed, and installing a stone and brick landing spot in front of the bench. I planted 300 bulbs, have a spot picked out for a tree in the Spring, will be installing a stone staircase, and re-planting a small bed next year. So much to do! Thanks for the motivation to change things up and really push myself. I even joined a horticultural society.

Yes-you sounded just like me in what I see in the fall of certain trees as the sun hits the leaves-it is as though they are lit from within! They DO glow! Perhaps a person has to have an eye for such things. I love that as much as I love cozy sweaters on cold days/evenings. Soups, stews, hot tea, hot coffee and most importantly, the crunch of leaves beneath my feet (the way the air smells) as I take a walk. it makes you thrilled to be alive!

Hi Laura and Aaron, I have a question about bulbs in containers. I live in 6a in Massachusetts. We have tough winters with a little t of varying temps and moisture. I lose many ceramics c and terra-cotta pots, if left outdoors. My assumption is ice expansion and contraction. Is concrete susceptible to this as well? I love the look of potted bulbs, but Im afraid of losing my beautiful pots! What are your suggestions?

Super exciting and I have loved learning from you about bulbs. My all time favourite video is when you and Aaron created the before and after video of planting bulbs with the beautiful music playing - that video could win awards and I really, really enjoy watching the results instantly. It is so satisfying to see the immediate results and I really appreciate that concept.

I use to have a Silver Maple when I first moved to my home. It was unfortunately taken by a wind storm in Boise and it was suggested to put in a different type since these grow quickly, and are not a bit weaker to stand up to that type of weather. I too loved the structure of it and miss the loveliness of its form. Would you agree with that prior recomendation?

How wonderful that you planted all those tulips in your parents flower pots! They will love it come spring! I planted tulips in one of my ceramic flower pots on my back patio and Im wondering if I need to insulate the pot somehow over the winter. It is covered by the roof of our covered patio. I live in zone 6B. Thank you!

Do you get squirrels, I planted tulips for the first time this year to come to find that the squirrels dug up most of them! I planted more and this time put chicken wire over them so I will see what springs up
