5 Popular Bulbs You Can Plant Now for Gorgeous Summer Color! Garden Answer Fancy: Thank you so much to do the visual planting. I have everything planted that you listed but my dahlia did not come up and now I know why I planted them wrong, I put them up & down instead of laying on their side, I read the package over and over but could not understand quite what they were saying, I finally looked in the pot and they were all rotten poor things never had a chance. I learned so much from this video. I will definitely purchase some more bulbs and give it another try, thank you!

I got daffodils, hysintias and tulips bulbs from my workplace. They dogged them out. I have taken the leaves out which were drying out anyways. I have it singled them out and they are in my garage in a newspaper to dry out. I am in Toronto, Canada. Please advise, how to store them and can I plant them straight to ground now or wait till Sep before planting them. I do get good light in my garage. Thanks

Could you talk about wintering the bulbs? I'm in NH- zone 4-5 and my Dahlia bulbs rotted in my basement last winter- packed in sawdust. Lifting bulbs in the fall and keeping them healthy is my challenge. I think all of these bulbs must be lifted for my zone- which is why I don't have any planted, though this video makes me reconsider if they are worth it! So pretty.

Hi Linda!
I kust bought my daughter the same Calla Lilly you planted in the container. It looked like a sunset here.
The direction stated to place in
The shade moist spil, dappled sunlight only.
Is this correct?

I wish you would talk slower, its exhausting. Take note of our Monty Don in Uk, so calming.
However, I Appreciate your explanation on tubers and bulbs, but I have to keep rewinding. I could have done with seeing how to plant these tubers 20 yrs ago, as they rarely came up, now i know why, so thank you for showing this on video.

Ok. full exposure Miss Laura: are you just totally awesome, with an incredible memory, and remarkable speaking abilities? Or do you have big poster cheat sheets behind the camera?
Not that you wouldnt be totally awesome if you DID have cheat sheets. it would just make you less human with supernatural memory powers!

Thank you for this video! A few questions: How can I encourage more blooms on a calla lily? For caladiums, do you need to dig the bulb up at the end of the season or could they stay during winter in Zone 8? We had our first real snow in 25 years this past winter, and I don't feel that it will be every year.

If you pre-grew your dahlias on in a pot and they're a nice small bush - but you went and buried the tuber right at surface level or immediately below (so note 4-6 inches down, can you plant them deeper when you go to plant them out in the ground? or will that kill them?

Oh my gosh so helpful. I had just about given up as a beginner gardener. All the bulbs I planted in Feb are gone. Nothing came up. This has re inspired me. I love dahlias. Helps when you explain parts of the bulb and plants. I still dont know what a rhizome looks like.

I've seen dahila plants at my garden center in small 4 cans. Are they the same with the tubers in there? I just can't imagine a tuber could fit in there. Wondering if maybe there is a different type of dahlia? Thanks!
