Today we're installing a no dig fence for our dog Gracie. The fence we chose is the Grand Empire XL fence from Lowes. We found it easy and quick to install - you just may want to rethink the gate latch if you have a larger dog

I installed this last August, and am very pleased with the look and durability of the fence. However, the gates are a different story. I have 3 gates; 2 on each side of the house and one in the rear of the back yard. My problem is none of the pairs of gate panels are even, despite my exhaustive attempts to adjust them. Needless to say, unless the left and right side of the gate are perfectly aligned, horizontally and vertically, the latch mechanism isn't going to work properly. Two of the gates are so bad I don't even use them, and the other one I have to pull the left side up so it aligns with the right and close the latch while keeping it aligned, and it still doesn't look very good. In short, did you have the same challenges, or am I missing a key aspect of gate installation? At this point, I'm exploring alternative latches, as the existing latch seems very poorly designed, even if installed properly. Tips from OP or anyone else are greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone! After having the fence for about 6 months I thought it would good to update you. The fence panels are great and can take extreme weather. The gate is giving us some small problems. The gate panel broke near the latch after only a few weeks. It's not a huge deal - and may have just been the piece we purchased - but I thought it was worth mentioning. Even with this minor issue I still would buy more. It's so easy to install, and relatively inexpensive for fencing. I also like that if we move it's easy to take with us. I hope that helps. I'm saving up for another area that I want to change from cattle panel to formal fencing.

We ordered fencing/installation from Lowes which was supposed to take 4-6 wks. Then another month wait was added. Now we're told Feb. Over $4K so we're going to cancel and do this. We have about 120ft we will need to enclose the yard. But. the yard is not completely level so I'm guessing it will be the placement of the posts into the ground we'll have to pay attention to.

I started installing around my pool retaining wall but got stuck at the tail end of the wall where the width is shorter than the panel width. Not sure if there are panels with smaller width or an alternate way. I can't cut the fence at the end because I need to connect them to my other side (L shaped wall. Any recommendations or suggestions?

We rent a house and only real yard space is the front yard beside a busy street/sidewalk. How sturdy is this fence? we have a medium sized dog we-re looking to give some more off leash space to and are concerned about her being pretty excited for other dogs, and perhaps taking the whole fence down lol

Merry Christmas Gracie! I love my dog, and I've set her up with an automated pet door from the house to the garage, and a manual pet door from the garage to the fenced in yard. Yes, I work like a dog so my dog can live like a queen! Haha! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Looks great. I've got some hard to access offgrid property I visit a dozen times a year where i just want to fence in a very small section like 20x20. but the removeable part is what worries me. I think somebody is just gonna steel it.

We have the same fence for a small area between our garage and house. We close it only to keep grandchildren and/or dogs in the backyard. We found industrial strength spring-loaded clamps to be perfect for keeping it closed tight.

I'm glad to have found this video. We are looking at a similar fencing (same concept, different brand in our country, and it is really helpful to see a real person put it together!

What is the height of this fence? I am looking to purchase this same fence, but see there are different heights in the XL fence. Thank you for making this process look simple.

What if someone falls up against it. And is it strong enough to withstand high wind and rain storms. Would this be appropriate for city dweller lawns that face the sidewalk?

I can't see well from the video - does the bottom of it get pretty close to the ground, or is there a gap? We have small dogs and I'm curious if this might be our solution!

Thanks. Watched this standing in the aisle at Lowe-s. Going to give it a try - notice several of the top pieces are broken too so good call there. Thanks again -

Husband doing the hard work whilst you film and no doubt offering advice-Your dog Gracie is beautiful and it's great she can safely run about in the yard now.

Looks good. I put a piece of 1/2 scrap between the gate panels, to keep them even and then set the posts. This kept the gate even. (Remove scrap piece)

Great video! I was wondering if the fence stays as is if someone leaned against it? How sturdy is it and would it tilt over? Thanks again!

We used this fencing for several years. We kept the receipt and were able to replace pieces as the paint chipped off for free.

I concur. I put this fence up in a couple hours. Now my sweet Golden Doodle Dunkin has his own backyard to play in.
