Not really my kind of thing I live in a country which is all about beach and summer. Winter low temp is 10DegC. But the journey is somehow compelling and i play it while working, it's quite calming. I have had a terrible 7 years with depression have taken their toll on me, I have lost my passion and things i loved i no longer enjoy, everything seems 100 times harder than it should. So to find your passion and what drives us is so important, be fresh in mind, thought and positivity is so important. The stress of running a business killed my passion and I am eagerly looking to find it again. Keep up the great work and messages of Self Reliance, something my wife and I talk about allot with our kids. Self Reliance and taking responsibility for what we do! Love it!

It's February 17 2020 and I'm watching old stuff from 2 years ago once again. I hope something hasn't happened, as I didn; t see your usual weekly instalment.
Listening to your self reflections on where you were before the log cabin in the wilderness began was inspiring. I live in London as a massage therapist working for our NHS. This is my escape. I find just watching the beautiful scenery that surrounds you, what you are doing with your life so uplifting. I am attracted more and more to life off grid. for when I retire. I thought it was very brave of you to talk about your shyness, and how you met your wife. And now she's moved into the cabin too! Best wishes to the James family, including Cali.

Considering that it's winter in Canada. I would have picked up a nice but cheap used travel trailer to stay in while I built my cabin. That would give you shelter, cooking facilities, bath/toilet facilities, and a comfy place to sleep. Once you have your cabin to a livable point, you could then sell the travel trailer (or keep it if you choose) and apply that money to your project. I know roughing it can be fun, but there can be drawbacks too, and I feel like, if I've put in a full day's work, I deserve to kick back and relax in comfort. Maybe I'm spoiled that way. That trailer would also give your girls a place to stay when it's time for them to come visit.

When I was building a new trailer, my woodspliter, our mt home or remodeling our house or building my shop, I would lay in bed and visualize
How to do something that was giving me a problem. Very often I woke up the next day, it was like a picture in my head, I knew exactly how to do it. Most things I had nothing to go by. At work I had a blueprint for everything unless my boss would say this is what I want something to do. Design it, then build it. I told you a while back we are a lot alike.

We live right in the city, but in back the house is a wood conservatory and we sit on the back deck and it's very peaceful, there's wild turkey, deer etc, so we have our own private sanctuary, in a way. Lived in the same place sense we had it built in 1960. Enjoy watching videos of people going backwards in time. No electricity, T. V. OUTHOUSE, power tools, running water, etc. To each his own, whatever makes humans happy because as we all know, life is short. Eternity is forever.

I've been accomplishing items that needed to be done on a regular basis. Partially because of your call to action against procrastination. Amazing really how I've let things pile up with the simplest excuses of why I can't do them at this time. thanks for the wake up call. Life should be used, not wasted, and you helped a lot in this regard. Stay safe pal, and keep at it. Mike

How do you measure to accurately find where your cut in the ceiling for the chimney pipe would go? You show drawing the circle with a pencil, but how did you get a center for that? I love you content, btw! We will be installing a chimney in our house in Alaska soon, so this was very helpful!

Only people becoming successful can truly understand this way of mind. I am a retired HS Principal. Confrontations make up many days in that role. Anticipating the upcoming day, conflicts and all, allows you to live in success, rather than fear.
