Topwater Tips for Spring Bass Fishing

Topwater bass fishing can be just about the most exciting way to catch bass. In the spring and early summer you can really capitalize on some big bites in the low light hours by fishing topwater baits. In the pond that I'm fishing today, the bass were biting early which is typical around the shad spawn. The shad will spawn usually right after the bass and will use anything on the bank that they can stick their eggs to. The bass will feed up on them during this time very aggressively. This is one of the only times of the year that I like to throw a buzzbait. In this video I also go through some tips for fishing topwater frogs and pop r style baits around shallow cover to catch these spring time topwater bass. Buzz bait is my favorite lure! I've caught more monster bass on buzz bait then any lure out there! The strike from a buzz bait will startle you quite often lol
