I literally just upgraded from a gtx 1060 to an rtx 2060 like 6 months after this review came out. I THOUGHT I made a hell of an upgrade only to find out that its really not all that much of an upgrade and the 1080ti beats it in almost every game at every resolution. So that had me wondering should I get the 2070 super or 2080 super I refuse to pay over 1000 for a pc part so not getting the 2080ti. Despite the small upgrade over the standard 2080 it will beat my 2060 pretty handily especially since I only game in 4k. So I will get this card but I will save up for it slowly. I know the 30 series cards are coming this year but I think the prices will be closer to the 2080ti range and up so I wouldn't get them anyway.

Here s the deal you can pay the 700 dollars and get a better performing card for that price point, or you can pay 400 more to get basically top of the line. If budget is an issue pick up what you budgeted for this hardware choice. That s the cool part about building pc s is that there is selection at every dollar point you have and you can still get a great machine. Some can afford more some can t. Having to overpay for pc parts back in the day is what hurt this medium. But another thing that sucks and unfortunately is still present is content creators who are elitist about the majority of the stuff they review, it just creates more pc pricks

Got an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080 Super Clocked card. It is long, Thick ( about 3 ) and heavy ( about 4. 5 lbs. , in short, bulky. Got it installed and the Computer wouldn't power up. Checked to see if it was fully seated and it was. After a while I went back and reinstalled the GTX 1080 SC I had in here. Friend called early this morning who had just done an upgrade, but not the card. We were talking and I asked him if he wanted an RTX 2080 SC card. Didn't tell him it was a piece of junk, but did tell him that once he and that card crossed threshold, it was his. I suspect I'll be called a few choice names when he installs it.

Sorry but I disagree, the RTX 2080 is far superior and in a class of its own. It's made more for high end gaming meaning 4k gaming at 60 fps. The 1080 ti is not a match. Sure if you just want to compare the 2080 with games the 1080ti was made for but thats not what the 2080 was made for or is about. Sporting faster DDR6 memory, faster clock speeds and more advanced GPU architecture, the only thing boring was this review. Now go learn more about the new line up of RTX and report back with more enthusiasm. It seems you have no idea what you are comparing.

Hey GN or anyone. Is there somewhere you post your exact game settings for these benchmarks? You have High listed for Shadow of the Tomb Raider but which settings exactly? What AA algorithm do you use (FXAA, SMAAx2, SMAAx4) What other effects are run in your Benchmarks? Also what area of the game are you testing? Are your numbers taken from inside a tomb/cave or out in a more demanding environment such as The Lost City of Paititi. Just curious if you document this anywhere to compare my own results.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB GDDR6 Memory Bus Width: 256 bits 3072 NVIDIA CUDA Cores Boost Clock 1860 MHz Ray Tracing Cores Tensor Cores. NVIDIA DLSS NVIDIA Highlights NVIDIA Adaptive Shading NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible. NVIDIA GeForce Experience NVIDIA NVLink (SLI-Ready) NVIDIA Ansel VR Ready Vulkan RT API, OpenGL 4. 6. Microsoft DirectX 12 Raytracing. Game Ready Drivers. HDCP 2. 2 Thought I'd put the specs up to save the search.

Point of the card is if you want to use the ray tracing or not, that is pretty much it. In max settings with ray tracing on in the newer games at 1440p the 1080ti will go to sub 30fps which I rate as unacceptable, 2080 super will still rock that w/o trouble. So that is really the only reason to upgrade, if you don't care about playing with those extra RT bells and whistles then there's no reason to upgrade.

I have a GTX 1060 6GB that loves OverClocking. It Runs Very Stable and Cool at +200 Core and +650 on the Memory below 70C. I just upgraded to a Ryzen 5 3600X and Iam thinking maby I should upgrade my GPU too. I was thinking to try and Get a RX 5700XT or a RTX 2070 Super if there close on price. Do you think it s Worth Upgrading right now or should I wait and which card would you recommend at the current price point?

I don't understand why people are angry toward that card. They complained that the original 2080 was not fast enough, so nvidia released a faster version. And like what, were you guys expecting to be able to upgrade from a 2080 to a 2080S? That isn't the point at all of that card. That card was made for those who didn't buy a rtx yet, and wanted a little bit more performance. This isn't a next gen card or a refresh

I mean, I am just now building a PC and the 2080 Super seemed like the way to go for me. It was 699 directly from Nvidia, I can overclock it to death, and it is the fastest GPU I can get without buying a 2080Ti. I do not own a RTX2080 before hand. So the RTX2080 Super is just a better option all around. If you already own a RTX2080, then that s fine. But, if you need a new GPU to murder gaming then this is it!
