Hayden goes hands-on with Facebook's Oculus Quest, a wireless VR headset that doesn't need a PC. At the Oculus Connect 5, Hayden got to try out Tennis Scramble, Superhot VR, Face Your Fears, and Dead & Buried. His conclusion: this could be the VR headset moving forward-not the cheapest, nor the highest performance, but a comfortable middle ground that manages to combine the strengths of each end. -That's $1, 000 off the price-
It's not that simple. For one, you don't need a $1, 000 machine to play in VR, in fact a budget machine can be enough when tweaking the graphics settings, and two, you probably already have a computer anyway that you may just have to upgrade a little. With the Rift being $350 to $450 depending on where you buy it, the price difference is not that huge.
As amazing as free roaming in VR sounds, the low spec hardware and likely lower amount of games sounds much less amazing. I already have the Rift and if I didn't, I'd probably still settle for the Rift. Once mobile VR will be good enough and solve the tracking issues, that will without a doubt be my preferred method, but it's going to be a few years until we're there.

My problem is that i allways need the best product. I want the quest, but if its not as good as pc vr, then i dont know. I havent even played PC vr much. But just because i know that its not as good as vr can be, i might not buy it. Saving money for a pc. But stand alone sound so nice. But the graphics. Hmm. Shit what should i do. Is the graphics that much lower?

If htc and oculus would work together and make a headset and all the rest, they would DESTROY the vr market. I myself like the vive better, but the oculus rift and quest got some really good stuff going for them aswell. So i feel like if you took oculus and htc and put them together, i think an incredible headset that would dominate would come out.

Oculus is probably working on the tracking system. It would probably be like the windows mixed reality does for there tracking. In the demo on windows mixed reality headset. It show when u movie ur controller away from the froint sensor it still tracks where u moved the the control. So it can be possible to do that.

even with wireless capabillity i think vr still is not future of gaming. i really dont believe if gimmicks like VR, motion control, and streaming games service wiil replace traditional gaming experience.

When will people stop spewing the misconception that you have to fork up at least $1000 for a good PC or a VR Ready PC? It's simply false and it only deters people from PC gaming.

I really want the Quest because the technology is revolutionary but you telling me that putting your hands behind your back stops the tracking. Idk how i feel about that.

What they should've done is put a small like little box thing at the back of the strap with a camera or 2 so then it still tracks your hands when behind your back

I just wish rift sensors did not need to connect directly to my pc.
- I wanna get HTC vive for that but people say the tracking is not as good as rift.

The arena area is amazing! You can finally walk around a huge VR area without a wire holding you back. Thats epic! I can't wait to try this!
