t always about the split that you are doing that determines how big your quads and hamstrings are going to become. Instead, it-s the way you perform your leg exercises and how you load the exercises you are performing that can make a difference in the results you see. For this, we showcase a real hardgainer for leg development - Jesse. As you may remember, when Jesse first appeared on the channel he was extremely skinny and found it difficult to build muscle anywhere let alone on his legs. He tried everything. Heavy squatting. Two a days. High volume. None of it seemed to work when it came to building bigger legs. That is when I shared with him 5 leg workout tips for building bigger legs that have changed his development substantially and can do the same for you. The first thing we addressed was something that was actually contrary to one of the methods I grew up admiring - the heavy duty method. There it was recommended that when someone was training natural that one of the easiest ways to spark new growth in a stubborn muscle was to drop the volume and spread out the number of days between leg workouts. Of course, the intensity would have to be higher to account for this decreased volume. That said, what I find as a prerequisite for sparking new leg muscle growth however is the opposite. If your legs just won-t grow, the first thing I suggest is adding a leg workout to your weekly training split. If you are doing a push pull legs or a total body workout, just add a leg day to the weekend. Remember, with the additional volume presented by this leg day you might have to potentially lighten up a bit on the legs in that last total body session of the week. Next tip is to flip the script on your leg training and stop focusing just on doing heavy squats and lighter accessory lifts. In fact, if you haven-t done light squats and high rep squats before this is exactly the change that is bound to spark the most gains by doing so. Add a couple 15, 20 or even 25 reps sets of squats into your leg training and you will see a huge difference in the size of your legs. On the other hand, instead of just doing light lunges and bulgarian split squats, opt to train these leg exercises heavy for just the spark you need

Hey skinny dudes, fellow skinny fuc here. Same weight since HS, I'm 32 now (yeah I know. its bad) I just jumped 20 Lbs for the first time ever, the only thing I changed (diet wise) is how FAST I eat. I was having trouble getting more food in me. tried different things for the past 10 years, ultimately the jump came when I started -pretending- I was in an eating competition every meal, literally just ramped up the speed I ate at. and was able to fit more in before It got to my actual stomach and gave me that full feeling ( that I apparently hated.
again, I am not a smart man, but hopefully this might help someone. 6'1 - I went from #135 - the beginning of this year (depressed and lazy) to #157 today. Id say about 1 month in food started to feel less of a chore, and more of a necessity. That has helped ALOT!

My husband and I are so impressed with you. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and educating us fitness advocates.
I love this video because I am a hard gainer. thank you for making videos for hard gainers. it seems as though most workout videos are always geared towards weight loss.
Being a woman would you recommend the same exercises? I plan on doing what you have suggested. I love to train hard.
Also my husband and I want to start one of your programs. He has been an athlete all of his life and I have been lifting weights since my late 20-s and I-m currently 47. I am also a personal trainer and soon to be certified nutritionist, I love to lift weights and train hard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

adding a second leg workout in the week will definitely help. if you just starting out then take is slow and add only a few exercises after a couple months of training if you are brand new. legs for some people are a touch area to build. i know it took me a long time to get my legs to where they are at now. twice a week doing multiple exercises at high reps always controlling the exercise and making sure my tempo is good. it's a good idea to add another leg workout in the week just listen to your body and make sure you are able to handle it and if you not there yet then slowly progressively overload ad build-up to it.

At 64 years old I started lifting weights again after 30 years at a gym close by and all those embedded memories started coming back on how to lift weights correctly. Honestly, I think your insights are the best around and I am not exaggerating. All those weight lifters of yesteryear including Frank Zane, Mike and Ray Mentzer, Larry Scott, Dave Drapper, Franco Columbu, Tom Platz, Lou Ferrigno and many others were my heroes. In their memory I bench pressed 180lbs at 64 years old. Great stuff and many thanks. Keep it coming.

Hey that's some serious leg size improvement right there, well done guys, how long did it take. Couple of questions if anyone can reply, I'm 42, 6 foot 2 and 100 kg (220 lbs I think. Not yet a gym goer but have done a little on and off over the years with 10 year breaks! Is it too late for me to get these type of gains if I take the training seriously with a home gym? My legs have always been my weak point.

If a legs is skinny that is came from genetic heridetary, there are did not exercise in legs but their legs is good proportion but their arms is very thin they look like kangaroo, but there are also people good upper body but have chicken legs that is geneticaly so that thin legs must apply to have legs with full of hair in looking balance.

Jeff/Jessie-What about a hardgainer 10 years post back surgery? I avoid weight on my shoulders in order to stay away from compressing my spine. so no squats really for the exception of DB or cable squats. Mostly lunges, leg presses and extensions with cable RDL and leg curls. What else can I do to help with gaines?

I had great results doing a pyramid volume type training with squats. 20 just the bar, add 10s and do 15, add 10s and do 10, same with 8 and 6 reps. Then work backwards taking off plates and repping back up. Killer. Not heavy weights but the volume mixed with 30s breaks do the trick

How about leg pressing on a smith machine with foot attachment, viable or dangerous? Smiths are controversial. We need Jeff to clarify which exercises he thinks work on a smith and which to avoid.
- starting to build a home gym-
(Rack or rack with smith)
