The triceps and lat combination within this superset upper body workout is guaranteed for a challenging session! The lat muscle refer to the Latissimus Dorsi muscle which means -broadest back- as it is one of the widest muscles in the body and is the largest in the upper body. The lat muscle is used within many activities particularly swimming, rowing, pull ups, pull downs and resistance training rows. The lat muscle is a large v shaped muscle covering the width of the back that provides stability and protection for the spine. It allows for abduction, extension and internal rotation of the arm along with depression of the scapular. The lats are the base for a strong back to allow for safe training and to prevent overcompensating with other muscles during training therefore reducing risk of injury. Even during a squat, the lats help provide stability for the weight. The lats can be visible from the shoulder to the hips and add to a taper appearance of the back. I have chosen the pullover as one of the staples as I simply love this movement. It is one of the best isolation movements for the lats there is! Every time you push away from the body, you are using the triceps! Think chest press, shoulder press, pushing a door open! The role of the triceps include stability for the upper body and allow for extension of the elbow and work alongside the latissimus dorsi muscle to bring arms closer to body. The tricep muscles make up a majority of the mass in your upper arms yet sometimes people can overlook building the triceps in favour solely of the biceps! So for a balanced, strong body I would recommend to think about the muscles utilised when you are performing the movement in order to gain the stretch and contraction of the muscle(s. During bent over rows, a gentle stretch at the bottom but contraction pause at the top! During skullcrushers for example allowing the tricep to lengthen by full range then contract at top! The timer will be on for 50 seconds per exercise within each superset with no rest, however pease don-t rush into position! Following each superset, you have 20 seconds rest! The staple superset will appear 5 times throughout the workout! For this workout you will need a pair of dumbbells and your mat! The dumbbells I am using for your reference are 8kg each and a heavier dumbbell at 15kg for pullovers! I've said it before and I'll no doubt say it again. that was the hardest yet (including EPIC. Those 1-armed Cobra push-ups (now aka 1ACPUs. how do you make them look so possible! I've started making a list of your exercises that I find the hardest (and so the ones I want to practice most) and 1ACPUs now at the top. day 6 of isolation, which as a teacher at the start of the summer hols when the weather finally turned good pinged via school but negative and in a gardenless flat is pretty tough. thanks for helping me through CG. x

Okay. this one my arms were DONE after the first few sets! QUESTION: In that situation, I switched to lower weights about the third Staple round, but by the fourth set, I could not even lift: D, and by the push up time, even knee push ups were so difficult I could barely do one! In that situation, should I just aim for one and wait the whole rest of the time before rest, should I skip the set? What's best? (For background, I have been consistently doing your workouts along with cardio at the gym.

Wow was that ever tough! My triceps were so tired by the time the pushups came around, that I couldn't push myself up to a full plank, so I decided to do eccentric (slow lowering) pushups from my toes and then come up from my knees. (and I admit spent increasing amounts of time on my belly before I could come up at all)

Woah. never a finished was more properly named! This was really finished me off! Couldn't; t stop giggling when my arms just wouldn't move, would just shake a little. Funny thing I found out I was only able to do the single cobra arm with my left, couldn't; t do it with my right arm (and I'm no lefty. Interesting!

My left arm is so much weaker than my right and my triceps are so weak in general. But despite having flabby, thick arms since childhood, I'm finally seeing some muscle tone. Where other fitness programs have failed, this program is actually working. I thought I'd have flabby arms forever.

I really had to modify this one and that finisher really was a finisher! But I love that Caroline keeps challenging me and the shorter sessions in the Heat programme (I-ve done Epic 1 & 2) mean I can really give it everything I have!

Wow. I-ve worked upper body hard before and been super sore for days. But this? I could barely even straighten my arms by the tricep push up sets. Yikes. I-m gonna be SORE---
