20 Minute Glute Workout - Complexes - Hip Thrusts, RDLs & Sumos - Caroline Girvan

Yes! Glute specific complexes with afew hamstring exercises within! I personally love giant sets, complexes, supersets, trisets or longer sets with structured rest when isolating the glutes and today is no different! It-s all about how you do it-let-s make this as intense, smooth and controlled as possible! For this glute & hamstring workout you will need: A dumbbell (or a kettlebell or barbell for hip thrusts & sumo deadlift squats A chair or bench for hip thrusts A glute band Optional is a yoga block to elevate the feet during single leg hip thrusts! The dumbbell I am using for your reference is 25kg. I also place a towel under the dumbbell to increase the comfort! The timer will be on for each complex 2 1/2 minutes with 30 seconds rest in between each complex! There are only 2 exercises per complex! BANDED HIP THRUST x10 BANDED HAMSTRING THRUST x10 SUMO DEADLIFT SQUAT x10 RDL x10 DUMBBELL ONLY 1/2 REP HIP THRUST x10 PULSES x10 BODYWEIGHT 1/2 REP SUMO SQUATS x20 1/2 REP RDL x10 SINGLE LEG HIP THRUST x10 PULSES x10 All same side SINGLE LEG HIP THRUST x10 PULSES x10 All same side FINISHER! BANDED HIP THRUSTS x10 HAMSTRING THRUSTS x10 During the finisher hip thrusts, you will notice I lift my toes off the floor when at bottom position! This is simply because it feels natural for me and even though am lowering quite low, I ensure my back is not arching so bringing the upper body -with me- as I lower. Keeping chin tucked in, looking towards my pelvis area, not allowing back to arch and thinking about tucking my tailbone up towards my head are some of the cues I think about!

So I'm currently doing epic heat, I got to day 20 and I hit a plateau, my backpain spiked (I work every other week and I am on my feet most of the day) so this workout plan is coming in at the perfect time. I'll resume epic heat on my rest weeks whilst I'll be doing this one on work weeks. It's way more sustainable this way. It may seem silly but those additional 10-15 minutes of epic heat do really effect my schedule and my soreness. Wish me luck -

I don't feel much in my glutes/hams all the time, sometimes I do. Mostly I just have a burning pain in my knees when doing any leg work, it's like I squeeze the muscles attached to my knees and nothing else. It's been an on going issue for years and the only thing I've been given is physio which doesn't really help. Maybe it will get easier.

I will be secretly swearing at you tomorrow as I go up and down my stairs! I loooove these 20 min workouts! So effective in a short amount of time, short and sweet! These will continue to be my normal workouts for next year! Thanks for making such amazing workouts!

I'm new to your workouts but am loving what I've tried - which are the shorter 20min or less workouts. I cobble two of them together each time. Amazing how doing it slower makes it so much more effective! Thank you Caroline! Will keep making my way around your other workouts.

omg, my new resistance band is here! And finally I can do this workout since I skipped it yesterday.
I'm using heavier band one and not gonna lie, it's heavier than I expect- + using 10kg dbs make it more hard, haha.

I-m new to Caroline and dumbbells so thought I would start with this series. Every part of my body is hurting and I-m only using 2kg! But I-m loving it and find her very inspirational. Today killed me!

I waterski and these are PERFECT exercises for waterskiing. Interesting I didn't do these before and knew of them; doing these with you makes my legs BURN. Effective, thanks a lot Caroline.

Video doesn't show weight amount (lb) for the dumbbell. It would be great to show this bolded at the start of each video- to Prep quickly. Thanks! Love these quick 20 min workouts

That was a great workout. I'm embarrassed to admit that my legs were so sore from the last workout that I had to take 2 days off! Really enjoying your workouts Caroline. Thank you!

I had to take a rest day yesterday because I was so sore from day 3 - it still hurts to walk but I'm here haha. The first week after a long break is always the hardest whew
