It’s not bs but it’s not as simple as most make it out to be nor is it as off as others do
For instance insulin resistance is a real thing the completely effects calories in calories out
However it is also something that can be reversed with the right changes and consistency over time
When I first started working on this I was 320 lbs and had to be well under 2000 calories to make the scale move and I worked hard every day
I did fasted cardio 3days a week and strength training 4 days and walked regularly especially after dinner
And thing did not change to fast
When I hit stalls I leaned into it and took diet breaks using reverse diet techniques
And then got back into it after a few weeks
And I found that little by slowly my insulin resistance was being reversed
And now 9 months later I am down 60 lbs
And am consistently losing weight eating 2600 calories a day
That was a dream to be able to eat this much and lose weight 9 moths ago
I don’t lose fast but 5 to 8 lbs a month and my metabolism has never been as efficient
I have see. Habitual dieters kill thier metabolism sooo many many times
I have seen people go sub 1000 cals to lose weight and when they get there they have to remain under 1000 calories just to maintain
I swore that will not be be
I did every thing to avoid that

Most ppl eat too much kcals most of which are carbs. Insulin release in X's causes eventual resistance which causespre diabetic state re causes fatty liver but when fatty liver is reduced by eating less carbs insulin sensitivity is restored. However if continues becomes type two diabetes. And must be stricter to reverse the fatty liver by eating less carbs.
Many ppl are not fat yet but have. Non alcoholic fatty liver leading to eventually type two diabetes so it's vital to know that xs insulin release makes ppl fat and is undisputed scientific fact In Multiple studies that is less to fat gain in visceral fat and external eg belly fat.
The CiCo theory fails to address the hormones and is fitness Industry bs propogates by the gym and fitness and supplements
Industry to fool ppl into buying their gym memberships annually, supps and fitness epqt as well as liars like Slimfast and other fatloss liars in it for the money.
The human physiology is what matters including the endocrinology hormones and health of the individual.
Cico only works when the hormones are in balance and the person is healthy but if hormones re imbalances disrupted or non functional no amount of CiCo will help that person.
Health first then the bodyfat will go naturally.
That is proven fact and the Truth they hide from the ignorant masses.

Interesting, all I eat is fatty meat. Less than 1% of my diet is carbs. The debate over which burns more fat people can spectate on through a handful of studies Possibly short term studies by sedentary people After living this way for 2 years, it’s been excellent. I don’t have to count or restrict calories, I stay very lean, my hormones have improved, inflammation has plummeted, no longer have sleep apnea symptoms, got me off blood pressure meds, never get sick, cardio became effortless, no more brain fog, joint pain vanished, actually feeling rested in the morning, I can train harder with higher intensity before getting tired, blood sugar stays very stable all day even after meals, teeth health better from not having sugars, I don’t feel bloated, skin is a lot less dry, my hair has gotten darker, nails have more shine, my brain runs smoothly with lowered anxiety. There’s a lot of bennifits to running on ketones for energy vs sugar. Becoming fat adapted isn’t something that happens quick though. Took me close to half a year before my training output started to outperform my diet on carbs. From my experience, I believe there is alot more depth to this subject than just being a calorie vs calorie. I’ve never thrived or felt this great with carbs. Interesting subject for sure

So we choose to entirely ignore how dietary fat is metabolized The main flaw of cico is that it doesnt differenciate between nutritional cholesterol, free fatty acids and triglycerides. Yes, you could in theory deposit nutritional fat as bodyfat while at the same time 'burning' body fat for maintenance energy. However, you would need to consume an extremely high amount of dietary fat for that to happen. Not talking about a moderate surplus, you'd literally have to eat a strongman's diet worth of fat for this to happen. Reason is that while the triglycerides of lets a fatty steak are easy to access (and easy to store as bodyfat since they're already in a similar molecule structure, fatty acids and nutritional cholesterol cant. Some of those is used to lubricate your stool, some to produce hormones, some to produce ketones and the rest is flushed out in the toilet, literally. There is no metabolic pathway to convert free fatty acids and free cholesterol into triglycerides. Thats why meatbased, carb-avoiding diets work so well for fat loss. You can literally eat until youre conveniently full and your body will sort out how much energy it needs for energy and being functional and everything beyond that it gets rid off.

Why do people refuse to acknowledge the most obvious shit in regards to this topic This brain dead CICO idea is based purely on the weight number on the scale. The fact of the matter is that if you eat a macro breakdown of roughly 40/20/40, vs the typical 30/50/20, you're going to lose more bf%. Period. Even though your calories will be above your calculated BMR if your protein intake is correct for your weight. Who cares that the number on the scale isn't dropping as much as it supposedly would in a calculated calorie deficit You can try and argue that changing your macro split elevates your metabolism, maybe you're right. Who GAF though The goal is to decrease BF while maintaining or gaining as much muscle mass as possible. So just do it the most efficient way possible. Or go ahead and yo-yo diet yourself for eternity and hurt your metabolism by sitting on a daily calculated calorie deficit. Choice is yours.

The only problem with CICO is dumbasses who use it as a thought-terminating cliche. It's like responding to any question about energy with E=MC2. You don't live in a metabolic ward, you don't know your calories out, you only have a general idea of what your calorie balance is after tracking your changes in weight over a time period to eliminate daily fluctuations that come from all of the reasons why you might retain water. So the actual important thing about CICO is having a diet you can stick to long enough to track yourself enough to figure out roughly what your CICO is. and that diet that you can stick to might be keto. It might be OMAD. It might be keto OMAD. And the magic of said diet--whatever that diet is--is not that it magically violates CICO, it's that it's magically something easier for your body and brain to stick to.

I'll note that increasing lypolisis but doing everything else the same, you're not using that increased lypolisis efficiently. Once getting into ketosis on a keto diet with a 700 calorie deficit, I started doing fasted cardio in the morning after dropping my daughter off at daycare. I watched the lbs DROP. I've been mostly on sometimes off keto for a decade now, and as I get older, it gets harder to lose fat while keeping my muscle. But the moment I start doing fasted cardio, the weight comes down faster than at any other point during where we I am in my dieting cycle. You gotta use that increased fatty acid oxidation, and the fat you're eating to replace it, has to be less than you're burning (still calories in/out) but you'll get hit with a shock by the speed once you get going with it.

Yo I was never fat or anything. In fact I was trying to get bigger. I was tracking macros with myfitness pal and it said 3100 calories/day for a lb per week. I started doing a keto/carnivore 90 challenge. I started losing weight precipitously. I upped the calories to 4000/day (or as close as I could get, VERY difficult with only meat and eggs) I started out about 190 and got as low as 165 though interestingly by the third month I started to gain some weight back and strength too. By the end I was like 175 and somehow stronger than I started. I was doing a basic 3 fullbody/week split with core starting-strength style lifts to simplify tracking strength. Not sure if I was stronger bc of the diet or bc I had put 3 mos dedicated to strength instead of getting massive but interesting nonetheless

Don't be simple insulin resistance can lead to leptin resistance and leptin resistance can lead to insulin resistance. You want to be sugar adaptive and fat adaptive. There are several components including gut health, fiber, and even protein intake. There is a place for calories in and calories out and that place is activity level. Higher activity requires higher calories but rest and digest, activity, quality of calories, all of that is important, especially if stress factors, such as loss of sleep or other cortisol factors has prevented healthy hormonal function, creation, and utilization of energy. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all and I promise beans are healthier than donuts. Especially when we look at micronutrients

Ill still stick with keto, fat is much more satiating so it is less of a struggle to put yourself in a calorie defecit, and what he described with the scooter is it takes awhile to break down fats then turn them back into fats to store them, so your window to use them for energy is much bigger so you dont get nearly as hungry and if you dont run a 5k right after a meal its fine you got hours vs carbs about an hour, i looked into alot of these studies years ago and i found problems with all of them but id have to look at the one hes talking about, either way i think its more about how you feel the healthiest, as long as its not vegan, i dont believe that is healthy for anyone

Lets start with the fact you cant consume a calorie. We breakdown energy substrate. Fats and protein have other functions other than energy. We NEED them.
We dont need carbs which are only an energy source.
So its not JUST energy in V energy out.
For any given food, the greater the nutrition the less likely for excess energy storage.
Excess substrate will lead to increased fat storage. Excess consumption is far more likely with carbohydrate consumption which spikes insulin, lacks satiety and drives cravings. CICO is wrong when people say its just that. Look at nutrition first and what satiates with the lowest energy consumptiin.

I eat fatty animal meat, butter and cheese/eggs only. Mostly little to zero carb. I had many illnesses that are now gone. I eat a ridiculous amount of calories daily, get full, and hunger is nonexistent. I’m 5’2 and weighed in at 102 pounds this morning. I’m 58 female. I do drink coffee. It is a whole new metabolic ball game because no counting calories which actually do not exist and do not apply in my case. I can eat till I’m stuffed and better health and weight than ever before with no bloating. People can say what they want about diets but carnivore based eating is the best thing that’s happened for me. 4 years now.

Calories in vs calories out is backed by thousands of years of observations. I have never seen a fat person die from starvation. They are all very skinny when they die. The Japanese helped us show this during their death marches through the Philippines. Everything else is just cope. People don’t want to blame themselves for being fat, so they blame hormones or thyroids, but thyroids either stop you from absorbing the calories (like how my cats died) or over absorb them.
reply

Calories in vs calories out immediately fails when you look at protein. Most of the protein you eat will go to repair and grow muscles as well as repair tissue and cell damage.
Converting protein to energy also requires energy. About 1k per gram.
. so about 100g of protein per day is not used for energy.
Calories in vs calories out only applies to carbs and fats, although fat isn't just stored, it's also widely used for other other things required to live.

reply

Cal in vs Cal out only worls short term. especially when doing it with manipulating carbs.
This study is pretty short term. Long term lower fat intake affects hormones and then eventually leads to low T3 production by the thyroid (needed for burning stored body fat) and eventually causes a stall in your fat loss journey.
If you want to consistently lose fat without having cravings (because most people are not shut in a lab) go Keto or carnivore.

Hey, can we talk shit for a minute here If I eat a 2000 calorie pizza the next day I have a larger than normal shit. People tell me thar yhe whole 2000 calorie were stored in my body and what wasn't used was put in my fat. But. how much of that 2000 calories just passed through my body and came out as shit Do they really think shit has 0 calories Does the body used or store all of the pizza or just what it can and then push the rest out as shit

Thing is. Caloric restriction feels much tougher when insulin is stopping you directly accessing your fat reserves. When you're keto/fat adapted, caloric restriction doesn't leave you feeling suicidally hungry. Fat is incredibly satiating Vs carbs. So. While on paper you can say fat restriction is more optimal when losing weight, in the real world, torturing yourself in that way makes it much more difficult to stick with the fat loss programme
reply

So basically what you are saying, and what the study is revealing, is that a diet that has no carbs has the opportunity to lose more fat. So the number one way to lose the most fat is to consume neither carbs or fats and just consume pure protein which would put you in a humongous calorie deficit. Basically, a protein sparing modified fast is the fastest way to lose scale weight and adipose tissue. Where have I gotten anything wrong
reply

I stopped looking at diet videos. Just eat healthy, and work out hard. Don't go hungry, but don't eat junk food. If your work outs are falling flat but you logic is well at least I'm in a caloric deficit then you're missing the point. It's not rocket science. Your work outs should feel amazing, like you left nothing on the table and get better and better every work out. Eat enough of high quality food to support that.

Tell you what
I’ll eat 2k calories of steak
You eat 1500 calories of Oreo’s, and then we’ll see who loses more fat. Calories as a measure has been disproven as accurate or relevant for 20years I lost 100 pounds and kept it off for 17 years and haven’t counted calories for over a decade- I eat clean and don’t snack, case closed ps, I don’t need gear for my muscles either.
