Curious about how to do intermittent fasting? I was too and for a long time I was hesitant about even trying it because I've spent years putting on muscle and didn't want to sacrifice any of those gains. After getting past those fears I dug in and tried everything from a 20/4 hour fast, juice fast, 1 meal fast and everything in between. And because of that I felt compelled to make this video because there are some definite benefits to each type of fast. So whether you're looking to drop tons of body fat or get those anti aging benefits that are inherent with fasting but don't want to lose any muscle then you'll want to watch this whole video. At the end I give you my variation on the Warrior fast which combines a fasted week with a re-feed day! Also here on some interesting studies I found on intermittent fasting: Fasting & Resistance Training Time Restricted Eating in Mice Prevents Obesity

Can someone help me out, I do not always understand everything Ryan says as I'm not native english speaker. Are you allowed to break the fasting with protein shakes (water + powder) or nothing is allowed besides water? I never did fasting diets, I'm 100 kg and I wanna go low on body fat but maintain as much muscle as I can, but that requires 200g of protein a day so. I wanna try out 16/8 or even 20/4 but I want to fully understand it first. Also, are you able to drink -0 calories drinks- just to -cheat- your body when you get extremely hungry (sometimes it helpes to get like Coke 0% or smth. Also, if Ryan makes a re-feed day once a week, does it mean he just dont care about 4h window but still stick to certain amount of calories or he loads as much calories as he wants? Thanks for any replies.

Thanks Ryan. I've been doing the 20/4 fast. Second week of doing it 6 on 1 off. I time my training so that when I'm done training, the 4 hrs of eating starts. In the 4 hrs of eating I'm pretty much doing the carnivore diet, making sure I get in as much protien as needed. I have no cravings at all, sleep really good in the 2 weeks that I have done this I have lost 8 lbs. I have a decent amount of energy through the day and enough to get through a workout (although I feel dizzy at times lol) I like to do things a bit extreme so I picked the 20/4 for shits n giggles. Well so far so good. I nearly shit my pants when I stepped on the scale and my gf giggled because she can see my penis again. So thanks!

I found out my body doesn't have the enzymes to digest certain proteins. Which sucks when your trying to add muscle while dropping bodyfat. I am not allow to have anything more than 120g of protein. I was told by a friend to eat high protein and high carb before workout and after. The rest of the day high protein and healthy fats. I did this in the past. Loss 8% bodyfat in 6 months. That's before I started 16/8 window. Let's see what happens. I did push for 150g in protein. I'm realising I can not push more than that w/o bloating. Let's see what happens.

I have tried the 20/4 fast this week with three workouts and no cardio because of the weather. I was able to go from 250lbs down to 242lbs at 6-1-. I still workout at least three times a week and walk 3 miles Monday through Friday on my lunch breaks. This was the first time my weight has decreased since my surgery. My arms and physique looks better but my weight was still too high. Just wanted to say thank you for your help! Hoping to go to 12/8 fasting once my weight is near my target.

Can someone please help me. I'm 248 and 6ft 3 and I could lose 35 pounds. From my previous body when I did work out and was in great shape I was 215. Kids and life is what happened. So I can only go to the gym at night, but during that time I'm in fasting, but I can't do a protein shake after can I, because that's technically breaking fast. Just looking for answers. I go to the gym 3 days a week and do the full body split so I can work out certain groups of muscles, multiple times.

My thing with the 20/4 fast is that I find it very difficult to get all the calories necessary in a 4 hour period. Now with the one meal a day fast; it is good for losing and maintaining weight. Just stack your meals. I'm a big fan of 16/8 fasting because if you don't break your scheduled hours, you'll find that you will only eat the calories necessary to replenish your energy and you will still be able to build muscle without getting fat. I do a Noon - 8 pm eating period.

Just started back training in December after 15 years off for the most part. Recently started the 16/8 for 45 days & sometimes make it 18/6 to push harder. KindaI like the delirious feeling I get.
Are your Saturday/re-feed days considered a cheat day, meaning a large double Oreo & cookie dough blizzard acceptable? Pancakes etc? My re-feed day is Sunday and I still stick to my time schedule. Any suggestions?
Appreciate your input & work.

what about the positive effects of intermittent fasting on the increase of HGH(human growth hormone? I read some studies and some say the HGH will preserve muscle mass and promote fat loss. Other studies say that the HGH that is released/produced by the body is produced because of a high cortisol level and thus won't have any positive effects regarding preservation of muscle mass and fat loss. Can you make a video on this?

Help me out here, in one video on how to cut body fat you recommend not cooking with a table spoon of olive oil and in this one you talk about wolfing down three beyond meat burgers that have 20g fat, that's 180 out of 270 calories per burger or 66% fat. Does I. F. counter that or is it training volume? I'm vegan too but I've been avoiding mock meats for the most part because of the high fat content.

I-ve tried the 20-4 and for a month and a half. I didn-t lose anything. No fat felt great though but nothing. I regularly been doing the 16-8 for maybe three years now. Had three one month breaks in there but it-s easy to do. I work out and run a lot. And I-m still a heavy guy. I-m to the point that I-m going to see a nutritionist or something in that sort because I just don-t lose weight.
