The Common ENEMY of Your Hips and Shoulders Redefining Strength

The Common ENEMY of Your Hips and Shoulders Everything is connected. And all too often the point of pain is NOT where the problem is. That is why, when you have aches and pains, especially nagging ones that you can-t seem to get rid of, you need to start searching further away from the point of pain. Take for instance SHOULDER pain. Often the first -rehab- exercises we start to include focus on shoulder mobility and strengthening of those muscles around the joint. And this is a great place to start! But what if, despite you doing all of the proper rehab work, things just aren-t fully getting better? Or what if you continue to suffer from flare ups that don-t seem to be triggered by any specific upper body exercises that you can identify? What if the actual culprit of your shoulder pain is an issue at your lumbo-pelvic-hip complex? That-s right-what if that lower back pain or anterior pelvic tilt or SI joint issue you-ve been having is CONNECTED to your shoulder pain! What if your lower back, hips and shoulders have a shared -enemy-?

Oh thankyou, this video is just what I need. I also had severe shoulder/neck pain for years. After many years of rubbish physio, scans etc, guess what they found it was my hips and SI joint, so many years of unnecessary pain. Anyway I still have pain, but I deal with it differently, and I have been doing weight training for a year now. The muscle is coming, but I still have about 20lbs to lose. I am 46years old and post menopause, with fibromyalgia, and with videos like yours & hard work I'm sure i meet my goals and stay there too. Have you any tips on loose skin and Collagen loss? I don't have lots of loose skin though its just not quite as smooth, or will this just settle as I build a little more? I'm not going for a body builders body mind, just lean and defined as I'm 5-9 tall and people already feel my presence - Thankyou

Scapular stabilizers, and the fascial structures also impact these issues. The living muscle tissue exists within the protein filled nonliving connective tissues. When we speak of TrP-s we are speaking of the living muscle tissue. Pain, the brain-s sensation construct of the nervous system can be the result of the depolarization of sense organs in living or nonliving tissues. So the question I have, are we stretching connective tissues or the living muscle cells to achieve increased ROM about a joint? I would say both as ligaments and joint capsules can restrict mobility about a joint.

What if everything hurts all the time? Speaking as someone who has worked in a very physical job for 30 years and lifted for the last 40 years. Think gnarly old tree trunk with similar movement. Torn rota cuff, worn out hip, tipped pelvis, herniated discs x2, damaged ankle joint. Arthritis of the everything. But on the plus side still alive, still lifting. - No pills. Mentally strongest ever been, if you can control pain you can put up with pretty much anything.

I've been having pain issues with my left shoulder, left spinal erectors, left intercostal ribs, left big toe and left obliques for 5 years now. A constant nagging pain that gets worse with stress or after some training sessions.
I will try out these stretches and bring up the possibility of tight lats or hip issues with my orthopedist after I get the results back from my spinal scan. This sounds like it could be something

Mostly good content, but as a PT that works with chronic pain patients DAILY, you shouldn-t go pathologizing NORMAL asymmetries (hip hikes, etc) or labeling parts of people-s bodies as their enemies. When you label things as -bad-, like a post-surgical knee, YOU EXPERIENCE MORE PAIN and for longer durations.
Otherwise, not bad. A bit biomechanical, but not bad.

I recently had shoulder pain, and after 5 months of trying to deal with it in various ways I started feeling some tingles run down my arm. Instantly decided it was time to see a chiropractor. Turned out my shoulder pain was a slightly bulging disk in my neck. Would have never guessed.

HR sees that you are ignoring their input inre: dress code and their head has exploded in a fit of pique. -
Seriously, these as some great moves. The hip dip alone exposed a great many sins involving my affair with technology. Thank you for posting!

Poor breathing techniques whilst exercising will cause those issues. NEVER EVER hold your breath. especially when executing those last few pull-ups or lifts.
Breathe out when lifting/pulling/tension. And Breathe in when relaxing.

great video. this is why you dont chase symptoms. It took me 4 years to figure out my shoulder and back pain was because of my uneven hips. Now I'm working on the fix and hope to get back to lifting soon!
