So excited to have my sissy Jackelyn joining us today for an awesome lower back stretching workout! One thing a lot of people deal with is low back pain - either because theyre sitting at a desk all day or hunching over. This stretch routine is going to relieve pressure from your lower back as well work on your glutes and abs. Its gonna feel goooood. Lets do it. YOUR MOVES: Childs pose Rabbits pose Rolling like a ball Boat pose Teaser Lying twist Double pigeon Seated twist One thing you can do to combat lower back pain iswait for itexercise! Yep. Good ol exercise. An interesting fact about endorphins (the chemical released when we workout) is that they can be JUST as strong as pain medication. This is because they work to block pain signals from registering in the brain. Woaah. Trippy, right? As Jackelyn mentioned in the video, having a weak core can also contribute to lower back pain. This occurs because the muscles in your abs actually help support your lower spine. So when you strengthen and tone your abs, youre ALSO helping your back! Jackelyn also brought up having tight glutes. Having tight glutes and tight hamstrings can be factors in low back pain. If your sacroiliac joints are stressed, this leads to more pain. Stretch out your booty and hamstrings daily, if you can! Working with cold and heat therapy can be beneficial with lower back pain. Cold therapy has two main benefits: It reduces inflammation. It works as a local anesthetic by slowing nerve impulses. Applying heat to the painful area works in two ways: Stimulates blood flow. It stops pain messages from being signaled. And of course, if pain persists or is really severe, please consult a doctor to make sure something else isnt going on

Hi Cassey! I apologize for the monster of a comment I'm leaving.
I have had all kinds of back pain for about 8 years now, and I'm only 22. I've been an on-and-off chiropractor patient, but now that I live in rural Japan I finally came to realize I shouldn't rely on doctors to fix me 100% of the time. I have always been overweight (230lbs at my heaviest) and I never really thought about my weight contributing to my pain. I've started my journey to a healthier lifestyle in February this year after a little too good of a vacation (got back up to 210 after telling myself I'd never see my weight start with a 2 again, and now I am down to 195. I'm 5'9 so I think around 150 is the ideal weight, but I've never been under 170 since childhood.
Your videos are so easy to follow and fun, and this is actually my favorite video of yours for two reasons.
I'm a teacher, so I'm always pretty static. Either standing in classrooms or sitting at my desk. This helps relieve my pain so much. I'm so thankful.
I also love the energy between you two as sisters. I'm on the other side of the globe from my sister and miss her very much. This reminds me to text her every now and then.
Thank you for motivating me to be a better version of myself.

I actually suffer from a pinched nerve in my back and I'm not going to say this is an all cure but this does help A LOT in terms of endurance. What I mean is - even if my back still really hurts, I feel like I can do more with it. I can still walk around as per usual or turn around in my chair without having to compromise the way I move and I think it's because the stretching helps alleviate some of the pressure that's usually prohibiting. So to all my fellow DDD, spine disorder, pinched nerve girls, a slightly more flexible back will do more for you in the day to day even if the pain stays the same. Also PT and a chiropractor help a lot: )

I'm disabled and have very limited mobility, so I always look to your videos to be able to do at least a short routine when I'm able to move more, and with added spinal issues and a multitude of other health problems, I've found this video and your other lower back pain stretches, a total blessing! They're easy, I can do them on lower mobility days, and it does ease some of the pain. It may not get rid of it, but it makes it easier enough that I can put my socks on without a huge difficulty. I can only hope your activewear will come in bigger sizes so those of us who are larger can enjoy feeling confident when we work out.

I keep going through this faze.
Morning I check the what workout is on the calendar.
I decide to do it later in the day.
I get lazier and lazier towards the end of the day.
I look at the workout Im supposed to do.
Dont feel like doing it.
Then reminding myself that I do feel good about myself at the end of the workout.
Still not wanting to do the workout I push myself to do it.
And end-up feeling really good about myself for doing something than nothing.

Hey guys, what would you recommend for someone who's already naturally flexible, like me? When I sit cross-legged, my feet and knees already touch without any stretching sensation, and while doing many of the moves in this video I felt like I was just sitting around and not doing any actual stretching. Help? Thanks: D

Being on my head is the one thing that freaks me out the most so I couldn't get myself to bring my head to the mat. I broke my nose in my friends pool a couple months ago I hit straight on and had hit equally as hard Had a bad concussion from it so I am very skittish of that Any ideas of how to get over that fear

I tend to have lower back pain, especially if I've been standing or walking around a lot. I think its because the lower part of my spine arches out a lot (I think its called lordosis, and if im not mindful of my posture my back will start to hurt. I'm definitely unaligned too haha I need to do more yoga!

Thank you so much for making this video Cassie! I suffer from lower back pain & this video has helped me so much. I do this every day before my regular blogilates routine & I haven't had to go to the chiropractor ever since. Its amazing what stretching can do for your body!

Woke up with lower back pain after Cassey kicked my butt yesterday. During the stretches, I realized its my left side that is cramping more. At the end, I feel more relieved from the pain. Thx so much Cassey and Jackelyn! Will have to incorporate this more in my life
