Can't Do Push Ups? (JUST DO THIS) Redefining Strength

Can't Do Push Ups? (JUST TO THIS) Push ups are one of those moves that everyone thinks they are entitled to do from their toes, yet so few really do fully correctly. They are so often not given the respect they deserve. Push ups are not only a challenging chest, shoulders and tricep exercise, but require more scapular mobility and stability and core strength than we realize. They are basically a moving plank! That-s why I want to break down how to modify the push up so you can build up to picture perfect reps from your toes not to mention avoid neck, shoulder, upper back and even LOWER BACK aches and pains

I'm going to try these tips really slowly. Last fall I started a push up routine. I'd do about ten minutes of upper body stretches. But after a week of doing -proper- pushups I strained my rotator cuff or the ligaments on my left shoulder. Months later its still sore off and on. I think the inactivity hasn't done it any favors. Maybe if I carefully stretch and then use the wall method for a while and then slowly progress to more challenging methods it might get it back to where it was. I don't think its torn, although I'm seeing my doctor next week. I'll start the program after I visit him.

Thanks for this video. Can you respond to one issue that I have? I'm 5' 11- and about 330 lbs. When I used to do planks, which of course is an exercise requiring you to be supported on your toes - thus putting weight and pressure on the Achilles Tendon - I have suffered soreness in Achilles Tendons and am hesitant to put pressure on that area. How can I do the incline push ups? This has been why, when I do attempt push ups, I do them from the knees to keep pressure off of my heels/Achilles. thanks.

My aim is to do one full push up off the ground. Once I get one under my belt I-ll push for two! I can currently do a half push up (can-t go all the way down) but after watching this I-m going to try and get my technique right be restarting with incline push ups until I-m ready! Thanks for this and all your other tips, so helpful.

Some good tips, but not sure how I can do them on an incline other than the wall unless I bought the special contraption. My furniture is too flimsy or not set up for me to use it. I'd appreciate learning how to best do the knee push-ups in order to build up to the full version.

i was taught to do 'push- downs'. that is, start in the fully pushed up posture, then slowly lower yourself down. do this repeatedly, over time, and you are able to do a push up! this works, and avoids injuries.

Excellent tutorial! But did I miss or did you mention the importance of hinging at the elbow? That's important. Not using the elbows as a hinge is counterproductive. Excellent! The best tutorial I've ever seen.

Yesssss thank you. I-ve been trying to do push ups lately & it was really hurting my inner wrists. I felt like I was doing it wrong. I-ll def try them on an incline!

have been doing all of these for roughly 2 months and have honestly never felt better. I feel toned all the time and building muscle has become ridiculously easy

Thank you so much for this. I currently do pushups on bent knees. I can do a few on my feet, but my torso tends to sag. I will try some of your suggestions. ---

I am totally unfit and fat and I never found a way to do this one. I think this will help. I just want to do some simple moves morning and evening as a start.
