My best physique ever (lean bulking physique update) - Fraser Wilson Ryker: Studies have shown that you will experience no significant muscle loss for up to two weeks without working out, and even then it's still quite minimal for awhile thereafter, so it's ok to take a week off from the gym, in fact even if you lose a rep or 5-10lbs on certain lifts (usually due to decreased mental conditioning, you will actually notice an increase in a lot of your lifts, and will be able to progressively overload quite easily for many weeks after your recovery week. -
I usually take a recovery week after every 8-10 weeks of lifting depending on how I'm feeling mentally (every 6 weeks during a cut, eating at maintenance, because intense workouts over a long stretch of time can cause a great deal of neural fatigue and you will notice you start plateauing or losing strength. Worse yet, you will start to experience increased cortisol levels from the workout related stressors, and it'll start affecting your sleep, which leads to a downward spiral of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and decreased performance. You'll notice this the older you get, and you'll also realize that taking a week off isn't the end of the world, in fact it leads to better overall performance and gains over the long run, as well as better mental well-being. -
People who say overtraining and CNS fatigue are myths are usually enhanced, so they will never experience such things like us natural lifters do, but no one should be afraid of taking fairly frequent recovery weeks. Some people even take them as often as once a month with great results. Listen to your body and don't be afraid to deload/recover. -
Also, Fraser, you still look great and have a prized physique. If I didn't know you were on vacation I would have just assumed you just weren't pumped. Even so, you're bigger than most dudes in your non-pumped state.

I've been on an on and off cut for about 8 months now. Taking a two week break at the 4 month mark. Starting at 205, I've got down to 178 at 2200 Calories. Most of the time was spent at 2000. At 6'4 this is very lean, but asetically, I'm not quite there yet. I'm going on holiday to Hawaii, and am currently stressing about whether to enjoy myself and forget about fitness for a week and a half, or try to stay on track. I'd like to lean bulk as soon as possible, but I feel like I'll have to cut again if I actually enjoy my vacation the way I want to. Any suggestions?

Nice to see you back producing videos Fraser but, its always nice to get away on vacation and take a break. I hope you had a fantastic time and visit to South Africa. Your physique is still looking phenomenal, quite lean and muscular. You weighed in at 155 #. What may I ask, has been the heaviest that you have weighed prior to your vacation? It looks like whatever weight that you gain is all muscle and very low body fat. impressive.
