Mount Dora is great. Just North of SanFord I would also recommend Deland. It is another good half day stop, especially if they are having. a weekend market. Some really excellent restaurants, the Cress is James Beard nominated (can attest really good food. There is rodeo whip ice cream is amazing, Then at Christmas the Stetson Museum is all decorated. And you have De Leon springs nearby which in winter gets many many manatees. Very family friendly parklike setting.

I live in Orlando and we go to Mt Dora often. Its a beautiful town but tough to find a parking spot when their festivals are going on. We shop at Piglets Pantry for dog treats and have high tea in the British Tea Room called The Windsor Rose Tea Room. Glad you enjoyed your trip

You guys are cute. I moved here 5 yrs ago and still learned some things from your research. That restaurant has the best cocktails herb and floral flavors. The owner is British and do serve with malt vinegar. And yes they're always slow but good lol. Live bands on weekends

Hippocampus the Merhorse would've most likely come first because Hippocampi were creatures of Greek mythology said to be the children of the sea god, Poseidon. It's also not uncommon for many things in science and medicine to have their roots in Greek and Greek mythology

Yall should totally check out Lakeland, Florida! They also have a super cute downtown area, lots of lakes, and a population of swans donated by the Queen of England! Theres also an antique mall in north Lakeland with authentic props from Disney and Universal: )

Come back and go to Goblin Market. Much better than the pub. Eaten at both, very impressed with Goblin Market's food and atmosphere. The Salted Fry is also awesome. They have Poutine too which is not something you find in the south too often.

Heads up the mount dora festivals are fun, but super hard to find parking and it gets packed. I live in the area and don't go anymore because so many people come and parking is nearly impossible unless you get there super early.

The Goblin market has more than just that front area outdoor seating with the three tables that you mentioned. They also have an outdoor seating area that you have to walk through the restaurant to get to. Just FYI
