Hi Noel, I hardly ever comment, but had to on your video. Been travelling to Bangka and Belitung several times for business reasons (reclamation of former tin mining sites) and took your flight probably 10+ times. Did not die, always had a great time. However, a couple of times I flew an older embraer which was quite a bumpy ride through tropic rain clouds. Must have been the nearest I had come to death in my life: )
Fun fact: Australian mining company BHP Billiton was named after Island Belitung (Tanjung Pandan) you had your stopover!

Every airline has a lot of flights a day, so your chances of something bad happening if you take one flight is minimal, and like winning a bad lottery. Now working as a flight attendant on that airline, is a completely different story. If you've been working for a while, a certain percentage will have something awful happen. That's why they have such a laisse faire view on passenger safety.

I hate Jakarta and definitely hate that airport. No toilets by the gate and no food either. In order to use the bathroom you have to go back through security and then go through again getting back to the gate. The people of Jakarta are the most unfriendly to foreigners of anywhere in Southeast Asia. Never again.

I considered flying Sriwijaya Air when they flew the Jakarta-Singapore route back when but the timings were never right.
Yes, this is a partner airline to Nam Air. Sriwijaya was set up first and the set up Nam Air when they wanted a full-service airline. Make of it what you will. :)

I am so sorry to say this but umm I think your wrong sriwijaya air isnt a 1 star safety rating of course I know sriwijaya has a bunch of crashes and accidents but in my opinion sriwijaya is a great airline but viewed by the international world as one of the worst airlines in Indonesia.

Risky fella lmao. the takeoff is part of whats known as de rated thrust (cost index # fed into the fmgc based on pax and cargo load. But yes, if one engine were to fail, you may end up In the grass / airport security wall. :)

statisticly speaking flying on one of these airlines with older material is still about 10E2 times safer than crossing the road in Newcastle when you are a tourist from Germany looking to the left before walking on

It's a shame airlines over there can't get funding to make them safer, but why does the cabin crew get trained when already hired? When they should have been trained in the first place.

LOL that manscaped logo looks like a pair of testicles then you popped up behind the hedge with a pair of shears. Was this all deliberate?

What is the most useful airline safety measure?
Would annual deaths per million passenger miles indicate comparative safety?
