Dixie has to make an emergency trip home. olchevyman: ,: I know this is a while back but I'm going through the videos now as I'm planning my thru hike this upcoming year. Buried one of my girls a month ago and I'm scared for my girl I do have left, she would stay with my parents whom she does love, but whenever I leave for a few days or a week they say she goes in depressive state laying by the door and not eating, worries me how she would do for 6 months. I would take her with me but she is just a little terrier datschund mix her little legs couldn't cover that distance every day.

I'm just watching your videos 5 years now after your hike. Had to comment on this one - I'm an animal lover and have had to say good bye to some of my own special canine family members. Have another one sleeping at my feet right now as I type. I know how hard that is and that you still miss her today 5 years later. Love that you kept her collar with you for the rest of your hike.

My dog died a few years ago while in someone else's care. We were on a family vacation and couldn't take her with us. It took me almost an entire week before I could even accept that she was really gone. I kept expecting her to come running out of the woods. Anyway, thanks for sharing something so personal. it makes your videos more real.

Yeah man I used to drink unfiltered tap water and didn't notice anything, but then I got a cheap reverse osmosis setup from ebay which only costs 70 if you just use the filters and tubes, and after drinking that I really can't stand unfiltered tap water, it's horrid. It's filthy stuff.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my hiking buddy Gimpy, my Australian Shepherd several years ago on Good Friday. He was almost 14 years old. I miss him terribly bad to this day. I don't think I will ever own a dog again. Some things are irreplaceable. My condolences for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just lost my kitty I got when I got my trailer in soph. year of college 2005. She died 11/13/16, so she lived 11 years too. I cannot imagine how hard that must have been for you to be so far away and trying to make it. I cried watching this.

Though this comment comes awhile after your experience, my heart hurts for you. We lost our Sunny the Wonderdog on August 9 last year. and it still causes me to weep. Your courage to continue in spite of this overwhelming loss was great. Heart & hugs.

I know that this is 2 years ago, but I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Sugar! :(
The pain you feel (and felt) is nothing more than a reflection of the power of your dog's love.
Your videos are an inspiration.
thanks Dixie!

It didn't feel appropriate to like this video but I know Sugar is proud of what you've accomplished and that you persevered through the grievance. I'm sure that her story brought you closer to some hikers along the second half.

My dog passed the beginning of fall 2016, my dad is sick so they did not want another dog because of his own health, a few months later they couldn't do it anymore and they broke down and got a rescue pup! Dogs are family 110%
