This Is What An Ant Digging In Slow Motion Looks Like (CDT, Southern New Mexico)

Location: Southern New Mexico. Continental Divide Trail In this clip I was getting ready to find a camping spot and I saw these ants coming out of this hole. I've never seen ants digging like that so I thought it would look really cool up close and in slow motion. And it does! To me anyway. Since I had to cut short a recent backpacking trip due to an emergency at home, I won't be able to produce a new video for this week. But I thought it'd be cool to post some of my favorite animal/nature encounters from my thru-hikes this week so they can exist as their own clips rather than in the middle of longer videos. For one, there are probably quite a few subscribers who haven't seen them all, and two, I kind of want to make it easier for myself to find them, too!

Down at Fort Hood Texas, I couldn't believe the ants there. They would attack a Scorpion and filet it and take it down their hole in no time, also a lizard but took more time. One of my Army brothers took a rock and threw it at an Armadillo and knocked it out. We moved it to the shade and when we came back it was gone. Spiders as big as baseballs. My Captain stopped 300 feet away and would not move until it was off the road. LOL

This is amazing but I still hate ants. Even our little black ants bite leaving very itchy welts. It's why I would never cowboy camp but I'm also afraid of scorpions spiders and tarantula hawk wasps. Thank God for tents!

Until you realize some of those sand grains are size-equivalent to bricks / cinder blocks. and the ant is just flicking them like nothing at a fast pace.

Wow! Where's my meds? I have become infested with little ants in my house. It's a running battle. Bombs, traps, sprays, cleaning. they haven't left yet!

Neat vid.
Be a good idea to include information about the background music in your video descriptions. Also, who chooses it?
