I love how the Escape Hybrid finally makes a return - people who owned the gen1 Escape hybrid loved their cars and fuel efficiency. The mechanical AWD on the hybrid is a bit of a surprise - most rivals as you stated (Rav4 hybrid, Volvo XC60 T8, Outlander PHEV etc) like to employ an e-AWD. The only thing Im kind of bummed out about is that the plug-in hybrid version only comes with FWD which is not as attractive as say the Outlander PHEV. However it appears that the EV range is greater than the Mitsubishi even with the EU upgraded 13. 8 kWh battery so I guess Ford is aiming for more EV range than AWD capability here.

Bad decision to buy this. In only 4 years itll worth no more than 7 thousand. Its a Ford and trade value has been historically low. People dont seem to learn from the past. Just the normal human excitement for the new product and then regret follows. There are other brands that retain a very high resale value. Why throw your money on this? Dont you want to have something that it is way easier to sell? And sell it for 26, 000 after 4 years. Guess which SUV has that dynamic resale value. Definitely its not a Ford.

Now we know what happened to the Ford Focus. Before it departed this world (at least in North America) it mated with the previous generation Escape and produced the new Escape. In fact, if the term were not so toxic in the marketplace the new Escape might be called a 21st century station wagon. (But dont ever, ever say that) Given that compact SUVs are the new black, I expect Ford to sell these by the truckload. Looking forward to a real world review.

It is great SUV. The only things I dont like about it that it has two levers instead of one turn signal switch, plug in hybrid should go over 70 miles per charge and have all wheel drive system. There is no excuse for plug in not to have all wheel drive. Escape should look more like escape instead of fusion and Toyota rav4.

Snort, who said Ford was going to stop making cars? They took ALL of the sport utility out that was in the original version and remade the Focus. Now I am waiting to see what the Bronco is going to look like - maybe something closer to the original Escape + original Bronco?

Can they get any more 1990s front end? KIA doesnt even use that look any longer (it looks like a KIA. Wow, the Escape used to be a great vehicle but has evolved into this. Granted it sells but it was a trend setter and now its. yawn, just another small SUV.

Waiting to see if the 2020 Escape passes the small overlap test for BOTH driver and passenger If so. I will buy one as long as I can get a non-turbo option. My 2. 5 duratec has 205, 000 miles on it and runs like new. Why would I want a turbo?

The exterior of this new version looks like carp. The current model looks much more stylish, inside and out. Interior looks cheap and nasty. Hackett should have stuck to selling furniture.

What does it say about original design when they have to boldly label what it is in big black letters as to what it is? You cannot tell any model from any manufacturer apart anymore
