2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid The Minivan With A Plug

In some ways Chrysler is downplaying the plug-in part of the Pacifica PHEV, but that strikes me as funny since this is one of the best PHEVs available in America today. Its roomier than just about any crossover in America, more efficient than a Highlander Hybrid and will save you enough cash every year to take your family on a mini-vacation. What more is there to love?

No longer a fan. We have a 2017 top-of-the-line Pacifica and have had many chronic issues: auxiliary batteries dying, car shutting down sporadically, passenger sliding door with a grinding creak, PRNDS indicator not illuminating, other electronic-type glitches requiring software updates, driver sliding door randomly opens even after you lock the vehicle and walk away, PLUS several recalls including one we just got notified of here in 6/19. We are too busy with work and kids to deal with persistent trips to the dealer service department. It's pretty much the BEST-LOOKING minivan out there but we'll do the Honda Odyssey next go round.

Also, that smooth functionality with CarPlay and the rest of the interface only works on the larger 8 screen. Our Pacific has the 7 screen, which still has CarPlay and Android Auto. Android Auto just takes up the whole thing and you have to navigate back to the main UI screen to do other stuff. CarPlay, however, drives me nuts, because while it keeps the standard UI buttons on the bottom, it compresses the whole thing to make it all fit, so you wind up with usable CarPlay on the equivalent of something like a 5 screen. Pretty dumb.

No question that its the most gorgeous looking minivan in America and also the most practical but, its a Chrysler so the engine and transmissions quality are questionable. To complicate matters, its a hybrid meaning that once it breaks, nobody can fix it except Chrysler dealerships. There goes your bank account. Its the best minivan to lease but not own. You dont want to own any Chrysler/Dodge products long term way after the warranty runs out. Still love it though.

I live in Northern Canada and can't decide between this and the Honda Clarity. I plan to have two kids and have two dogs but don't have any kids right now and this thing seems to need to heat the cabin with the engine, which would be all the time. Plus it costs 15k more. Perhaps stick with the Clarity and look for an AWD hybrid family hauler down the line when I have a bigger family. Our Venza works for our two dogs right now. What do you think Alex?

I really like the Pacifica Hybrid, but overall reliability does still worry me. People who get minivans tend to drive them a lot. The Pacifica isnt the best a being there all the time like the Sienna. Total cost of operation might still be lower here than the Sienna or Odyssey, but it will spend more time out of commission which is problematic for a utility vehicle

I don't need a minivan as I drive alone 99% of the time but if I was in the market for one I would definitely look at this one. The implementation of Android auto and apple carplay in the middle is ingenious. Keeping the built in navigation on the bottom is a really excellent idea. The Plug-In hybrid makes a ton of sense for this market as well.

Would be really cool if an aftermarket company made a setup to have a form fitting battery for the below compartment behind the third row, that could extend (probably double) EV range. It would make it so third row couldn't fold and probably would be a liability in the event of a rear end collision. otherwise a great idea perhaps.

great video thank you. any thoughts as to why the 2019 pacifica hybrid has a lower MPGe (82 vs 84) and MPG (31 vs 32) score than 2018? i'm struggling to understand if there were real changes made or its just a calculation difference.

is there a review showing the lane keep assist function? i find honda's implementation to be excellent and proactive (it lane centers above 45mph. i'm reading FCA uses a ping pong reactive style which is not desirable.

The timing of the pictures changing when discussing the competing minivans was off, it changed to a picture of a Sienna halfway through talking about the Sedona. Might wanna quickly fix and reupload.
