Kia was hurting around 2010 with poor workmanship. Stuff was failing at an alarming rate. Then some Einstein in the Kia company started a new program called Quality Control. Several million dollars later the Manufacture started selling cars again, leaving other auto manufactures envious. I'm a Ford type guy but my other family members are buying Kia products, reporting good results. So Kia figured it out before getting bought out, I only wish FMC could do this with their Diesel Truck Divisions.

My ten year old Honda fit sport, has 320, 000+ miles. It never needs any oil added between oil changes and I do 10, 000 miles between oil changes because 60% of the miles are Interstate driving. I add Archoil additive to all my oil changes after the break in. The car is 10 years old. The only part I had to replace was the cruise control switch module. Everything else is/was normal wear & tear. Tires, breaks, batteries, etc. Its been a great, trouble free car and it get 30 MPG.

I don't know if you believe in oil catch cans or not.
I have a 2016 Kia soul+ 2. 0L, GDI; installed an oil catch can a couple years ago (homemade, since I couldn't find one small enough to fit.
Truly amazing how much crud it stops from being sucked back into the engine. Due to its small size (during winter) I empty it after every trip!
It has prevented over half-a-gallon of yuk from getting back to the intake valves.
Regards!

I took my chev truck into the dealer at 2000 miles for the first oil change and the service writer gave me a hard time. Changed it anyway since then every 6000 miles. I took the truck in at 30, 000 miles for a trans service and I had to force them to do the service. My work truck is every 6000 miles and that has over 320, 000 miles on it. Cheep insurance By the way all with Mobil 1

I do the same. My last new car got it's first oil/filter at 1000 miles. Then match the interval to the service type. Our stable of cars get the once a year change. Also a big fan of Mobil1. Ran Mobile1 in my BMW race car for years never an internal problem. Thanks for clarifying the pars under the hood as kibbles and bits. who knew.

It's funny because the Hyundai / KIA manual recommends Quaker State lubricants (at least here in Canada. If that's the case, any SOPUS product (Shell, Pennzoil, Quaker State) would be the recommended oil. Of course, it's just a recommendation and as long as you're using the correct API oil, it really doesn't matter.

Never bought brand new, but I did have a reman engine put in my truck. Changed the oil after about 1k miles, then back to my usual interval, about 6k. I run Amsoil Signature series and do an occasional oil analysis, so far so good on all my engines. Excepting of course the AFM lifters on the factory truck motor.

I only drive used vehicles, I change the oil when its dirty looking. Not black, just not new looking. This means the first oil changes I do are usually every 500-1000 miles for the first 4-5 oil changes, by then the sludge and crud is cleaned out and I can increase it to about 3000k miles before the oil is brown/dirty.

I change oil at that same mileage, and have never replaced an engine in any of my vehicles. I've also had a Chrysler engine go past 250K, and still ran great when i sold it. So boom! If a Mopar can last at least 250K on a 3750 interval, than it's a good interval!

When we bought my wife a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee they said the 1st oil change wasn't due till 10, 000 miles. Not in my book, so I did one at 1000, 5000, and then took it in to them at 10K. Cheap insurance that'll make your car last a good long time.
