Single wire O2 sensor trick, disconnect single wire O2, engine idling, scanner in data monitor mode, one hand on disconnected input wire to ECM at the O2 sensor your other hand on battery positive post, monitor data monitor and the ECM should see 1. 00 volt. Remove hand from battery positive data monitor should go to 0. 0V. Hold hand on battery positive for about 30 seconds the ECM should set an O2 code. The ECM will not detect a Normality OPEN code circuit code as it was not programed to monitor open circuit, but the ECM will detect a Normality short to power code. Good trick to verify O2 wire into ECM and ECM is working as designed.

On a '82 Celebrity, had the output transistor fail the only time I used a valet parking. They had to push it out of the way!
The throttle body injector was feeding full beans! I unhooked the plug to the injector, started the flooded engine, jumped out, feathered the plug on the injector, and kept it running. Had it towed to a garage. In a couple of days, I called them and they didn't have it repaired. I went and transferred the PROM, and installed the used computer myself, paid them for the diagnostic charge. Now, I probably would replace the output transistor in the computer. LoL

23: 00 The barbeque scene is highly addictive and should be experienced by all. The payoff after the low and slow cooking to do it's thing is well worth the wait.
We haven't done any for a few months but we used to run the smoker through the winter months (Iowa) and sometimes keeping the barrel up to temp was hard but again, well worth the wait.
Now that you've been talking alot about it, I'm thinking that I'm gonna fire up the ol' girl and smoke some pork loins.

That must have been an import from Texas, it certainly didn't spend much time in your region. I agree, it had a lot less rust that most of the vehicles 8-10 years old. My parents were from, and still have some relatives on my mom's side who live in the Hornell area - not far from you and I recall the good food at a few Easters, Thanksgivings and other occasions when I was a kid/teen by my relatives.

Wow, what a great ending, and what a break that Wilbert's had a PCM available. Also not too shabby that an O2 sensor was readily available. And Mr. O had a scan tool that could read this old OBD-I system, and the know-how to interpret the data, so a win-win-win. But I think in your shop in upstate NY, that Kansas song in the background was really Rust In The Wind.

Chevy used the name Tahoe as a trim package on their trucks back in the day. Watching this brings back memories of riding around in those S-10s. and I have an appreciation for these videos since I have a 87 Dodge Dakota and have similar issues addressing drivability issues and parts availability. though my mechanic loves working on the old truck.

If i remember correctly, the early 4. 3s had the same wiring harness as the 2. 8s. I think they literally just put in a different prom but everything else is the same. It wasnt until they went to port fuel injection that they actually updated their PCMs and harnesses and sensors etc, but i dont think the 2. 8 ever got port fuel injection on the trucks.

Now we're talking! When I was 16 and working summers for the village, our truck was a red 88 S-10 with the iron duke 4 banger. It had an AM only radio and no power steering. We called it the S-9. One guy decided he was gonna buff and wax it by hand. He gave up pretty quickly and we drove it the rest of the summer with one shiny fender.

I have worked on many of these (in the LLV ) for the post office The later ones with distributor less ignition have constant ignition module, and pickup failures ALL of them have pin fitment issues and the early ones have prom fitment issues BUT these trucks have 30-37 years of hard use and are still out delivering your mail every day
