715hp BMW M2 v Manhart M3 Touring: DRAG RACE

Sell your car for free with Carwow: It’s time for a Manhart drag race! The Manhart team has gone to town on a BMW M3 Touring and a BMW M2, and Mat’s about to see how the two compare over the quarter mile! So let’s take a closer look at each car. Starting with the M3 Touring, it’s usually powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that produces 510hp and 650Nm of torque. However, it’s had several upgrades added to it, and as a result, it now puts down 650hp and 800Nm! This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1, 865kg. If you want to pick up this exact car, it would set you back around 126, 000! Then we have the M2. The stock car has a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that can produce 460hp and 550Nm. However, just like the M3, it’s had several mods added to it, so it now creates an incredible 715hp and 850Nm! An 8-speed automatic gearbox sends this power to the rear wheels, and the car tips the scales at 1, 725kg. It also comes with a pretty hefty price tag of 110, 000. Aside from the bare 100kg weight difference, A saloon/sedan is always better than an estate in Performance due to its aerodynamics. I don't know why the Saloon/Sedan has gone out of fashion in Europe so much It has almost same boot space, better aerodynamics and 100% better looks. Estates just look terrible.

Only the Germans would over-engineer a hood latch. Double pull. why would anyone want to pop the hood but NOT be able to open it That's pointless complexity and you know what's going to happen, that fancy hood latch is going to break in a year and somehow start to leak oil, it being a BMW and all.

Sam is so annoying with the down shift during breaking. only thing you can do with that is to upset the balance and get more abs intervention. Racing driver. would like to see a braking test ( on dragy ) same car (stock car with decent brakes) with and without downshifting.

The US based Model 3 Performance would gap that M3 as long as Carwow doesn’t cripple the Model 3 by putting it into Track Mode. Track Mode cools the battery and destroys Horsepower for EVs. We all want to see that BMW race the Model 3 with the US Panasonic battery.

I thought it was impossible to make the M2 look worse but well done Manhart you’ve managed to achieve it, all you need to add is some furry dice and one of those Chav flatulence exhausts Worst looking M car ever made by a Country mile.

What car I have Definitely not theese 2 ugly appearances.
Hope theese are show cars and not someone's daily driver. Then I'm sorry for the people drive it.
Ow and my choice a RS4. 450 HP is enough and looks much better.

Really don’t like how the videos start nowadays, wish Matt would go back to starting the video inside the car and getting the guest drivers to say the stats, Btw love both cars but M3 is my favourite

So M2 was - 4 car lenghts behind M3 (- 20 meters) and that supposed to be just 0, 1 second in time difference Not a chance, unless you are traveling with 450 miles per hour.

Two horrendous lookin vehicles. (You guessed it im not in my 20s lol) need some older races. old 911s. caymans. 350z. xk. xkr. older db9. stuff you dont see drag usually on.

I just feel that Carwow, in a way, is responsible for the current car scene, which is filled with 0-60 mph enthusiasts who know nothing about driving dynamics or handling! :)

Everyone is making some beautiful cars in 2024 but BMW is nailing it. The M3 estate and M2 are both in dream car territory. They both look like they want all the smoke!

All nice apart from piggyback ecu, otherwise known as voltage manipulator, comes with a plethora of wiring, custom tunes should be hard flashed.

M3 touring is Gods gift to us enthusiasts. Its all in one package is probably the best in the business. Just not here in the States

Why would the M2 have more HP now with the same tune when it starts out with less HP to begin with Since the M3 can easily push 710 no issue.
