New Polestar 3 Review: Forget EVERY German SUV!

Change your car with Carwow: This is the Polestar 3! We've waited four years for Polestar to release the successor to the Polestar 2, and what Mat has his hands on today is an SUV that has the likes of the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron & Mercedes EQE SUV in its sights! But does it have what it takes to bring them down Let's take a closer look! In terms of the design, the Polestar 3 looks great! Up front there's no blanked out grille, with Polestar truly embrassing the fact that this is an EV from the ground-up. The sloping roofline also helps the car stand out on the road, and to be honest, we'd be hard-pressed to find a better looking all-electric SUV out there today! When looking at the interior, it's worth remembering that Polestar still has close ties with Volvo, so the 3 has a lot in common with the EX90. But whereas the EX90 is a seven seater, this will remain as a five seater only, so it means all passengers will have masses of room! There's also a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dash (which runs Google's operating system, and there's a set of digital dials ofr the driver. The cabin is also filled with soft touch materials, and all-in-all is a nice place to be. All editions of the Polestar 3 come equipped with a massive 111kWh battery, and there are single and dual motor models available. The single-motor edition can produce 299hp, and costs around 70, 000. There are two editions of the dual motor car - one that can produce 489hp and costs around 76, 000, while the range-topping Performance Pack produces 517hp and costs around 82, 000. But what do you think - can the Polestar 3 really compete with the class-leaders You'll need to stick with Mat for this all-new review and see for yourself!

I like the fact that they are all doing green recyclable interiors rather than leather. And yet charging a premium now. I like the fact that everything is controlled through touchpads and yet charge you more for it. I like the fact that interiors are lower quality and yet charge more for it. It’s relentless the way car costs have increased over the last few years. What will it be like when they are on, y allowed to manufacture electric cars. Will everyone be buying 30 kilo wat battery pick cars with a range of 150, lies as that is all they can afford. Where are on earth will the 60 % of all, people who only have off street car parking charge. When are these variable going to be sorted.

I can’t help but think BEV’s will be a short lived fad. hydrogen combustion that Toyota are working on uses a normal petrol engine that runs on hydrogen, every manufacturer has the tooling to make these engines and as a result they will end up being half the price of BEV’s.
To offset the battery production emissions you have to do a minimum of 100k in the life of the car and use green energy.
Solar generation in the desert to create green hydrogen (sea water or atmospheric capture)
Hydrogen combustion is (will be) carbon negative so the bigger the engine the better. Bring on the environmentally friendly V8’s!

Hi Matt, nice review. There is one thing I really dont understand from basically all manufacturers. All cars have only one cordless charging pad for your mobile phone, why usually there is more than one phone in a car when people use these vehicles. And why are the rear bench seat not sculpted as three seats Like the old Renault Scenic, it had threet individual seats at in the rear and they were comfortable and big enough. Why cant manufactures these days get it right Three seats that can adjust seperatly

Ufff in China similar cars are 40-55k will be interesting how Zeeker and its Chinese competitors will be priced in Europe. Today I drove Zeeker 001 600km on highway very comfy compared to Q7 which having in Europe. Message seats everywhere, great cruise control (auto pilot assist, etc etc. just the AI part not so great as Li or Aito but super intuitive. Well done Geely!

I found a simple formula how to calculate EV cars depreciation: you simply substract mileage from the initial car price, so if the price is 85k, after 5k km, you will sell it as 80k, so it means after 40k km, or 2 years, you will sell 85k car, for 45k, easy math, basically it means, 1 km driven, will depreciate car by 1 euro or pound.

7: 30 this makes perfect sense and Matt you are incorrect here kind sir. The majority of people would adjust mirrors or the steering column BEFORE driving, not during. Digging around the system whilst driving is an accident waiting to happen so it's good user experience that the buttons are delegated whilst driving. Safety first!

I think 90% of people in the comments simply hate it because it is electric. I think this car looks great and is pretty exciting as a whole. And the glovebox thing is super exaggerated. I only open my glove box like a couple of times a month and not at all when I am driving, so what is the issue with it being on the screen

06: 56 I actually like the idea of pressing a button to operate rear windows. Save space and save money, yes, but also means I won't be accidentally lowering the rear windows at a drive through when I was meant to lower the front windows while navigating the bends and not looking at the buttons.

Contrary to all the naysayers, I hope Polestar will succeed. Of course it will lose value as soon as you drive out of the car dealer. But please, feel free to tell me wich premium car you don’t lose money on And this car is no more Chinese than a Bentley is German.

The title of this video should be forget all SUVs not just German ones just buy an estate like our parents and grandparents did it was good enough for them it's good enough for me.
P. S 22 inch wheels with potholes we have in this country is asking for trouble.

As a current Tesla owner and former Volvo owner, I rented a Polestar 2 in Germany and drove to the Netherlands. From driving dynamics to charging, and infotainment to practicality, the experience was a total disappointment. I would never consider buying a Polestar.

You forgot the most important detail, the most important feature of this car: it catches fire on its own. Having it in your garage is a risk to your safety; every night while you sleep, you might wake up and notice that your house in flames.

Can you please do a review on the byd seal because i know you did one with it against a tesla but can you just do a review ith just the seal and also there has been a lot of updates and fixes since you last had one

Every single new car has one same issue, no physical buttons! Not even one manufacturer is listening to the people. I think the fisst to embrace physical buttons again, is gonna have a lot of appeal.

I have to say the Polestar 3 is the best car I have ever driven, absolutely amazing and better than I expected. I don't want a big SUV (Please make an estate Polestar) But seriously a very good car!

Another boring let's put an I pad in the middle dash and impractical touch sensitive buttons. what happened to instrument binnacles I don't mind minimalism but this is just a Tesla copy.
reply

I do not understand why are they so adamant about removing physical buttons/knobs/wheels for everything! How is operating this ipad wannabe any different than using mobile phone while driving!

EVs don't exist for me. Unfortunately, my lifelong passion for the Automobile will end with the last ICE cars. And look how young men don't care about cars anymore. Times are changing.

Another thing is when it is a chinese or scheap car the reviewer always tells us it is 'fake' leather, but when it is a premium or well known brand then it is man made material why
reply

I genuinely feel bad for anyone buying this rolling POS. People in comments saying the car looks good are they bots or are people really this uneducated Seriously concerned about society
