Change your car with Carwow: This is the new McLaren W1! It’s the most powerful and quickest-accelerating McLaren road car EVER! And it’s the first hypercar from the next-generation Holy Trinity to be revealed. Besides an all-new chassis, the W1 features a completely new 4. 0-litre twin-turbo hybrid V8 engine that revs to 9, 200rpm. Working with a compact F1-style electric motor, this powertrain produces 1, 275hp so it’s the most powerful road-legal McLaren ever built. It accelerates from 0-62mph (100kph) quicker than a McLaren P1, hits 124mph (200kph) quicker than a Ferrari SF90 or Lamborghini Revuerlto, and it’ll beat a Bugatti Chiron from 0-186mph (300kph. That’s despite all this power being sent through an 8-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels only Koenigsegg style. The McLaren W1’s top speed is 217mph, but what’s really impressive is how quickly it’ll lap a race track. At the Nardo Handling Circuit in Italy, it beat the McLaren Senna’s record by 3. 0 seconds. The key to this hot-lap pace is Formula 1 aerodynamics, including a huge rear diffuser, underbody ground-effect and gigantic active surfaces, including a long tail-style movable wing. Combine this all together, and the McLaren W1 produces a whole tonne of downforce literally, 1, 000kg of the stuff. As you’d expect, this G-Force delivery system doesn’t come cheap. The McLaren W1 costs 2, 000, 000 after tax. McLaren will only build 399 of them, and they’re all sold out But this new hypercar is only one third of the new Holy Trinity. So what are Ferrari and Porsche cooking up Watch the video to find out

Good review, the improved lap times are exciting & also super important for rivals to know & you can get a absolute sense of the change in improvements that leaves current challengers having to scramble instead of having an edge or working on it already. More grip is essential and exciting to know. The down side any right now video footage is going to be scarce & the car talked about the let down is not getting nowhere near enough interest in footage with current owners with the only exclusivity over everyone else where we're left with only the interest publicized by the company. I want more; also the small window in a window thing is back again, if I had the money no full window is a problem especially when going through the drive through it is a problem that we're left with. I am excited and thrilled but with the small window in a window thing I have to pass and is a major oversight that has never been appreciated for the lack of practicality. The cars are already spoke for I want to hear world breaking numbers all exciting and interesting what is actually available & practical will appreciate the new advancements to come in the future so something to look forward to I appreciate today while enjoying attainable cars that are enjoyably practical to own. 2 million dollars is the price overly hyped people that can afford it; well done I appreciate McLaren I want them around I want to see future cars and all of these improvements to come to the most affordable ones regular people can get into that aren't super rich thet can send that money this way too. I want practicality that will never change where it may be obvious with the small window in a window thing I am equally no different with any other car. No different than right now my conversation will be the same if one day I become extraordinarily rich my conversation will still be the same as much as my appreciation is the same right now the advancements are incredible enjoyable & amazing, new excitement in technology but I'm only stating the truth that we are all looking forward to seeing the W1 in action no bs.

This is extremely cool, but in this market we've seen similar stuff before.
Basically it's an incredible performer which is and will always remain cool af, but it brings nothing new to the table. As soon as it gets beaten in performance by any sportscar, it basically loses half of its appeal. Past iteration of the hypercars always brought either a massive jump in performance or /and a new incredible technology to the table.
F40: carbon. Not the first ever, but still one of the first ever.
F1: 3 seater, blend of never before seen tech on the road, world's fastest car by some margin
F50: f1 engine in the back; but that's about it, which is why most people consider it lesser than an F40 despite being more beautiful and faster.
Enzo: incredible jump in power, incredible advances in aerodynamics, one of the first proper sequential shifters in a road car
Veyron: first 1000 hp car, W16, world's fastest car, first to hit 400 kph
Pagani: literally everything plus incredible design
LaFerrari, P1, 918: different takes on the same thing: hybridization. massive power jump, incredible performance hike, completely new design language.
Koenigsegg: massive performance gains, incredible driving style
Valkyrie: nuff said
AMG One: literal F1 car rebodied and with and added seat
Senna: incredible aero
This one is doing better than most of the list here, but it's incremental. It's not as exciting, and for now I don't see people talking about the driving feel. We'll see.

The P1 was outrageous at the time. Nearly 1000HP to the rear wheels, the shrink-wrapped body, etc. It was always my favorite amongst the holy trinity. This one looks too busy and unoriginal and more like a generic GTA V Hypercar. Tbh. I don't care about the stats anymore as nowadays even Corvettes are 1000HP from the factory and EV Hypercars with over 2000HP are out there.
Tbh I feel sorry for the engineers, because they hone every bit to perfection and 99% of the owners will put the cars in climate controlled storage for eternity. The only times you will see them driven in anger will be Chris Harris hooning a press car around a track as sideways as possible or Mat Watson drag racing it against an EV, MotoGP bike, Speedboat, Jet Fighter or other hypercars.

The view of the front from above immediately brought to mind the Mercedes C111 Wankel sportscar back in the v 70's with the rest of the body work looking way too much like other much cheaper McLarens. And that colour Exactly the same colour as that Mercedes hypercar those decades ago! Too derivative, and the powertrain doesn't matter at all, because of McLaren's failure to actually work most of the time. I'm sure this one will be no different, just way more overpriced.

I think what detracts for some could easily be remedied by slightly adjusting the W1's paint scheme. Nothing much. Perhaps adding paint to the bottom 'side skirts' to match, as well as the bottom piece right below the front fender (or side fascia. Imo, I think it would 1) make it work better (visually, and 2) improve the gawk factor by revealing details some may not notice. Personally, I'd go fully carbon fiber.

Beautiful!
But a bit disappointed as McLaren didn't go with 3 seat, central driving position. Other supercar/ hypercar brands tried it, and it worked.
They even have it on their Speedtail.
Why Maybe for battery placement, as it's a hybrid
It would've been more iconic as it take a nod to the original F1, being it as special as always.

The P1 was so different on release that it set the design standard for McLaren. A difficult job to keep the recognisable design cues for the purists whilst adding to the wow factor. Personally I think they've done a good job with the design and it's the on the track performance that will decide its place in automotive history.
reply

It doesn't wow me, really. The F1 and P1 were visually astounding for their time. The W1, especially its side profile, looks like they didn't really know which design direction to take. I'd still prefer owning a P1 over this one. Heck, I think I'd prefer any McLaren bar the Senna over this one.

Looks cool but this thing has a weird needle to thread. It costs as much as a Koenigsegg or a Nevera but doesn't bring the goods like thoae cars. Back in rhe original Trinity era, they were cheaper and Koenigseggs weren't as good or well known yet, and cars like the Nevera didn't exist at all.

I understand that there isn’t any true comparison cars out for two weeks but the SF90 isn’t in the same category. The F80 (Laf successor) will likely be RWD and 1000bhp as well, also track focused. The SF90 is more of a GT style supercar
reply

awd in a hybrid car is not really heavier than rwd you just move the electric motor(s) in the front (or in the back if its front engine fwd. I mean if you're doing properly, some hybrids still have a driveshaft but it doesnt make much sense.
reply

this suspension has one disadvantage - even with a small impact on the curb - the suspension is torn from the body or bends it - when using subfray it takes the force of the impact and deforms, but it can be unscrewed and replaced

I love the design, it's the best looking Mclaren in my opinion, love the spoiler and doors, the front end looks great. Looks are different for everyone and you will always get people who love and hate it.
reply

The fact that the ZR1 has 1064 HP without electric assistance should make Mclaren absolutely ashamed of themeseves. Also it looks like they traced and copy pasted the Lykan for their front design.
reply

if (when) Porsche goes electric then the actual holy trinity should or could be w1f250amg one. yeah it has a lot less power but it does have a character. I dunno tell me if i'm forgetting something
reply

They could've just put about 3kg of wire turning from the battery pack to the front axle and put the motors there, but I guess they just want less performance for no reason
reply

can someone explain why porsche, ferrari and mclaren are considered holy trinity and per example, bugati, koenigsegg or other high performance cars are not included
reply

: 53 we’ve been desensitized just cuz of the amount of crazy cars that have been coming out. Doesn’t make this one any less dope jus makes it stand out a bit less
reply

It's growing on me, I loved the P1 from the moment it was unveiled. It has always been a dream car of mine. I think this has a lot to live upto compared to the P1.
reply

The fact that i saw the weekends blinding lights on the car play, and he actually owns a p1, makes me wonder if its a market strategy to get his attention
