New Ferrari F80 Hypercar - Why I'm DISAPPOINTED!

Change your car with Carwow: This is the all-new Ferrari F80! It’s Ferrari’s successor to the legendary LaFerrari, and Mat’s about to run you through everything you need to know about it! For starters, let’s talk about the engine and performance. The V12 is officially gone, and it’s been replaced with The V6 from the 296! But fear not Ferrari fans - it’s also equipped with a total of three electric motors, and combined, they produce an eye-watering 1, 200hp. This officially makes it the most powerful Ferrari road car ever produced! The power is sent to all four wheels, and as a result, the F80 can shoot to 62mph in less than 2. 15 seconds! In terms of the design, it’s fair to say the F80 doesn’t have the same visual shock value as its predecessor. The black band across the nose looks similar to what you get on the 12Cilindri, but overall the front doesn’t have the same pointy design style as seen with previous legendary Ferraris. However, at least there are several aerodynamic details across the car when you look closely, such as the fins behind the side windows and the heavily contoured side skirts. As for the interior, one of the most notable features is the square steering wheel, which has clearly borrowed inspiration from Ferrari’s Le Mans Hypercar program. Although this may come with a number of physical buttons on it, the rest of the cabin is adorned with a number of screens. There’s a digital dial screen for the driver, along with a separate passenger screen - just like the one found in the Purosangue. The F80 is limited to just 799 units, and of course, it doesn’t come cheap. Each one will set you back around 3, 000, 000! But does it match up to the McLaren W1 And is it a suitable successor for the LaFerrari Stick with Mat and see for yourself! The V6 is only disappointing because when you think Ferrari hypercar, you're kind of expecting a V12. But the power numbers are crazy and I'm sure the performance will be on point. The REAL disappointment with the F80 is the design. I mean, sure, it's not horrible, but it's certainly not as beautiful as the LaFerrari or the Enzo (or the F50 or F40 for that matter. You could say that it's all about function over form, but that was Gordon Murray's philosophy for the McLaren F1 and that car is still stunningly beautiful almost 30 years later. I mean, my opinion doesn't matter because 1) they're already all sold and 2) I can't afford a $3m car, but I can still appreciate a gorgeous car. Design-wise, this one misses the mark.

W1 and the F80 both look like arse.
I always loved the P1 and still do. And while I wasn't a total fan of the La Ferrari, after seeing this shit. The La Ferrari is gorgeous.
And I have and continue to like some questionable cars like the original Gumpert Apollo, and Buggati EB110.
So if I can like those and not the W1 or F80 something is clearly wrong with these new cars

Electric this, electric that.
I'm sure this will be a joy to maintain in the long run. /sarcasm
These rich people toys show just how astonishing the C8 is in comparison.
Fraction of the price and most of them will actually be driven hard, whereas all of these multi-million dollar things will be garage queens.

reply

Just say already you're disappointed cause you hate Ferraris for some reason and always praise porsche everytime they produce the same spec of a model over and over lol.
At this point it's clear how you always b1tch over Ferrari and never do so over Mclaren or Porsche, ludicrous of you lol

grow up, guys in the comments. ferrari always explored different and new technologies in hypercars. laferrari was hybrid, and people were all crying about it then, and today it is recognized as legendary. give it time, there's no point in all this juvenile nostalgia for eternals v12

By gum, looks-wise that's a peculiarly dull fart of a car. Most un-Ferrari-like. Its 'try-hard' technocratic styling makes it look as if it came out of a 1968 Dan Dare comic strip. Best give this one a miss, boys. It's back to the future!

It would look much better without that black bar across the front but there's no defending the lack of a V12 though. Especially when ICE cars are dying out and along with them all the unique and rare engine configurations.

demise.
the fall from grace.
the sheeet awakening.
The begining of garbage.
signs and symptoms of this pathetic design were beeing seen couple years back.
aka tributo.
this is a large hack of poop.

I know everyone says this thing doesn’t look good but I disagree. I love this design. I understand the v6 isn’t for everyone but the numbers are there. I think people are writing this off way too early.

Having been at the launch it was very much received as a bit marmite. No 'wows' or 'ooh' - just meh. - nothing new - and everyone knew it wouldn't be a V12, it could never have been.

Would like to see an old 3. 1 Isuzu Trooper/Bighorn in a tug of war with a modern 4x4
Could you do this as the Trooper was the mule of the 4x4 world back in the day.

Awful design for a halo Ferrari and ridiculous V6 engine decision with no V12 send off.
Ferrari have finally dropped the ball.
Biggest supercar let down so far.

Would love to see the Chevy C8 ZR1 nuremberg lap time compared to all the cars shown in this video one day. And then do a follow up with the ZR1 ZORA model.

296 =Dino, 12 cylindre =Daytona, F80 =12 cylindre/Daytona/F40/F50. . Love the design it will grow, getting the 80s vibes from the front, rear, and side view.

I wonder. if this even counts as a trinity car. Looks like a teenager put a bunch of aftermarket vents and called it a day. Ferrari. What is this design. Do better.
reply

At this point the Corvette ZR1 is better than this overrated overhyped ultra expensive Italian garbage. Just as fast, sounds much better, and has a V8.
reply

Can they just get rid of that horrid two tone black front wnd. Other than that, I prefer these more simple looks than other new Ferraris, 296 aside.
reply

Looks like a 90s JDM like NSX since yeah the pop up light design and also were having V12 SUVs from Ferrari and V6 hybrid for their hyper cars hahahahah
reply

It looks like it was made out of Lego, It is absolutely hideous! The V6 thing doesn't really bother me though, the 296 has a V6 and that sounds epic.
reply

Great looking car, terrible looking Ferrari.
That’s my opinion at least. I think it looks really nice, but nothing about it screams Ferrari to me.
