They know the breakdown record of the 90s Dodge. lol. That said, 66% of retail price is a pretty good trade in value, compared to the average car. My 2010 Nissan Frontier (8 years old. only owner. I put all but 50 miles on it) is only worth about 8000-9000, when it was 23, 000 retail. I'd be thrilled if it were worth 14, 000-15000, but the average vehicle simply doesn't get more than 30-40% of the original value on trade. And, a business can't add money for sentimental or collector's value.

Doug complaining about 20 year old hoses and radiators failing, I mean welcome to 20 year old car ownership regardless of make. Nobody makes a rubber hose that lasts that long reliably. I had a 20 year old Camry once and guess what, its radiator clogged up and blew. The cooling systems on most cars aren't designed to last that long especially if you dilute concentrate coolant with tap water causing corrosion and happens at some point to all cars it seems.

You should get a new mechanic, every noob mechanic knows that when a car's radiator goes out you have to replace all the hoses that were pumping coolant because the overheating would have damage the hoses thus weakening their structural integrity. So either your mechanic didn't know to replace the hoses and is incompetent or they knew and just wanted you to come back to the shop to charge you or the insurance more

I went to buy a car from CarMax, and they tried to rip me off. Also, they ripped me off and told me that my 1998 Nissan Maxima was only worth 200 as a trade in or if I wanted to just sell it to them for 200. CarMax said that my Van was only worth 200, and like an idiot, I sold my Nissan to them for only 200, because I was told that by it having 310, 000 miles on it that it was no good. What a rip off

How does such a large engine have such a small amount of power? Over in Europe in 1997 TVR could sell you a car with a 275cid V8 engine that weighed about 270lb and had as much power. That was knocked up in a shed fast on the cheap. The mighty automotive giant Chrysler needed 488cid, 2 more cylinders, and more than double the engine weight. Oh well.

Dispatch: Dispatch to squad 4, we got a report of man at car fax that is refusing to leave the lot, demanding appraisal for cars most can't afford or don't want. Squad 4: Copy, on our way to escort Doug off property again. Dispatch: Copy, and for your 43 he has a notepad there and will be evaluating your performance upon arrival.

Not true. Cars like this and heavily modded cars are to much of a liability and Carmax will not cover it under it's warranty. It's not that they don't want your car they are not going give you what you think it's worth vs what it actually is. And you'll never not get a car guy or girl who doesn't know cars appraising your cars.

carmax is the place people with no social skills buy cars. They dont have the ability to negotiate prices and get a better deal. They just pay the sticker price and think they are getting a great deal because it was inspected. anything that isnt spewing fluids or show blantantly obvious signs of a collision pass right through.

WOW, what a waste of time. You paid 37k for the Viper, they offered 25k IN THE WINTER(which is the kiss of death for sports cars and convertibles. That is a fair wholesale number for the Viper. Why would they give you close to retail when they would have to recondition it, service it, and sell if for a profit?
