To fix a Mercedes DIY, have basic knowledge of electronics, 3D design, machining, and programming. You can find people that have managed to reverse engineered a Mercedes and you can fix it yourself. Also if you can a Mercedes yourself if you know have knowledge in electronics and a multimeter and a small lead acid battery to run the window motor bypassing the electrical system. They have German car specialized mechanics where you can bypass the dealership completely and have them fix your Mercedes Benz for about the same price as a Lexus they get the parts from a Bosch parts distributor. Have a broken intercooler water pump in your 2003 E55 amg take them to the German car mechanic and they will replace the auxiliary water pump for only 230 dollars parts and labor including 1 man hour, the auxiliary water pump, euro coolant 50/50 mix, and a peace of mind. It will have the same exact part number but it just doesnt have Mercedes branding on it.

My workplace started buying new Dodge ProMasters three or four years ago. At one point they removed the spare tires from the couple we had, saying there was a recall, or something. A little bit later they bought another ProMaster, and I noticed that it still had the spare tire. I assumed that whatever problem they were having was finally fixed on the new one. Well, one night I got the pleasure of taking the new one for a short little 224 mile drive. I get on the freeway and at about 5 miles in, I look in my mirror and see a shower of sparks trailing behind me. The spare tire was dragging like the cans on a newlywed couples limo. If they cant get a simple winch to work right then why would I trust them to make a decent truck. Well, that, and the engine caught on fire three years later. But thats another story.

2 Volvo questions in one video1. The S70 was good because it was one of the last Volvos developed by the company before Ford took over. That was the kiss of death for the Swedish brand. From then on it was downhill. The S60 was great but wasnt as reliable as it shouldve been. Then there was the 2nd gen S40. 2. That S40 is a pile of excrement. Its a Ford Mondeo in a swedish frock and it feels just as crap as every other Ford product we unfortunately get here in Europe. Its cramped, not particularly good to drive or sit in, its boot is rubbish, its not as near as comfortable as the S60/V70 of the time and its rather unreliable, except for the 1. 6 diesel engines which are PSA-sourced, and equipped everything from Mazdas to BMWs.

Scotty, you say European money pits. But to be honest, comming from Europe (Holland) we say American money pits. Just stick with the facts, European cars are build very well and are very reliable. Dont know what they do with these cars to get them legit in the US but here, when we go for reliability, we buy a European car and if you need tofix them, its cheap due to lots of used parts. Dont call European cars money pits every time you talk about them, you just dont know the facts. Stick with what you do know. My last car was a c70 D5 2007 and a s60 D5 from 2004. These things run 1 million kms and more. Just maintain them.

Scotty, I love your content brotha. keep it up. I will comment again though on Volvo. I dont think you have enough experience with them. Most of their transmissions are made by Aisin. They are fantastic transmissions. The ones that were junk were the GM Transmissions they used in a few of the older T6 models of the S80 and XC90. Other than that. Aisin makes all of their transmissions. They will run for a very long time, still. The S70 wasnt the last year they made a good car. Either way. I like watching your stuff.

NO WAYI could not believe in what my eyes were readingThe OM 601 and the older gens, such as the OM 617 are probably ones of the most reliable engines, in the world. The early CDIs arent bad either, just beware of the injectors, might be faulty at high mileages. The diesel engines, from the w123, needed valve adjustment, but the engines from the w201 and w124 diesel series, didnt need that, so youd only need to change fluids and filters, and youd have a very long lasting car.

Love diesel. They get better mpg and the engines last longer than a gasoline. They may be a little slower but who cares. Also everyone thinks diesel is dirty but with the proper emission control it can be as clean as gas. I have a 2017 Chev Colorado with a 2. 8 4 banger diesel and its amazing on fuel. Everyone claiming they are going to stop making combustion engines in the next few years it wont happen cause they will still be selling oil.

Scotty, I had a 450SL Mercedes convertible and it was powerful (I got 6 speeding tickets in it in Texas) but it was too expensive to fix. Everything was in multiples of 500 bucks. Need a washer motor, 500 bucks. All my repairs were in increments of 500 bucks so it was quite expensive for even minor fixes. I finally traded it in for a Ford Truck and my insurance company sent me a fruit basket. True story.

Those Mercedes diesel vans have massively expensive and problematic exhaust and other systems-- most commercial small, medium and large american cos do not buy them, and for good reason- Most individuals also do not buy them over the other brands, for conversion to campers-- Many dodge dealers will no longer work on those diesels in the Dodge vans either. Sad days, in the good ole USofA.
