Hey Scotty. Your forgetting about wheel alignment, the most important factor for premature tire wear And a thing the can be easily checked by anyone with a few meters of string connected to the rear hubs and pulled tightly along the front tyres to make sure they have the right toe angle alignment. A sign that something is out of alignment is that the steering wheel is not sitting straight when your driving straight on a level road. But if it does thats not a proof at all that all is good, so make sure to follow Scottys advices how to check for worn out bushings and ball joints. But beware the on some cars worn out bottom ball joint will not show any play when the car car is jacked up.

Tires crack when exposed to the sun because they dry up by ultraviolet light. You can buy tire covers online. Several sizes available. Cover them in the summer or park in a shade. When rubber is not exposed to the sun it remains soft & more flexible with better grip for safer traction in the snow or on a wet surface. If you dont cover your tires in the summer, theyll last only about 5 years regarding traction even if the treads are okay. So each summer parked in the sun takes out 20% of its traction. Especially in hot Texas. All you need is two covers for 2 tires because we only have one sun.

Tread Seperation is serious, my dad had a few cars, which caused some of his collectors items to stand for extended periods, so the Tyre had 3000km on the clock, but they were 8 or ten years old, and he had a few cases of pky Seperation. They say tyres should be thrown away after 5 years. Always check tbe Tyre age code on the Tyre when you buy them, Ive had cases where the tyres were 3 years old before they were sold.

For Europeans: If you drive mostly on the motorway; inflate your tires to the max. rating. If the manufacturer says 2, 4 to 2, 6 Bar, do 2, 6. Yes, your tires will wear out sooner, but you will more than compensate for it with the fuel that you will save. If you are a bad driver; go for 2, 2 (underinflate. A slightly lower tire pressure will mean a shorter stopping distance.

You can adjust warmed up tires. If you have been driving on the tires for more than a half an hour, set the pressures 3 to 4 psi higher than what the cold psi should be. That way when they cool back down, theyll be right at the placards cold settings. Also, due tpms laws, modern cars tell you when your pressures are wrong. Thats the orange exclamation point light on the dash.

You forgot to mention that people need to rotate the tires every 6, 000 miles to get the most usage out of them possible. Failure to rotate means either the front tires or the rear tires will wear out quicker due to the vehicle weighing more in the rear or front (because of the engine mostly) and the stress of shifting weight when the vehicle turns.

have you ever tested the 303 rubber protector? There are a couple videos online that say if you cover the tire (including tread) and let it sit for 12 hours every 3 months it greatly reduces wear on the tire and makes it more pliable and tacky and can also be used on wiper blades and belts to reduce wear. Just thought i would get your take on it.

I used a tire spray on a set of tires I bought brand new and several years later the outer part I had treated was in good shape but the inner side was all dry rotted and cracked so the stuff does work but you might want to do the inside once in awhile. And as far as it making your tires slippery and dangerous yeah for what two blocks
