Yes The 5S-FE 2. 2 liter engine was bombproof. They used it in the 4 cylinder Camrys and the NA MR2s from the the 90's. My 1999 Camry has 273K miles right now and shows no signs of dying. It runs extremely well and the A/C freezes you. Most don't know this, but the Camry is derived from the Celica. In fact, the first Camrys introduced in Japan was called the Celica Camry. That's how great the Celicas are. The gen 7 Celicas sucked because Toyota was too busy trying to mimick Honda's Acura Integra. check out the engine stats- 1. 8 liters, DOHC, variable valve timing- even the the horsepower output was similar. Almost identical to the Integra on paper. Honda perfected it; Toyota failed.

Party like it's 1999. I had one of these. Scotty is SPOT on. Most solid still-fun car I've ever owned of 7 over my lifetime. Only gave it up because I'm an Accelerating Global Warming hippy and went electric, which means I really miss the 5 speed shift. Sometime I still find my left foot looking for the clutch and right hand for the stick. It's in the blood and I felt that sacrifice until I acclimated to the G Forces of the E Rocket Torque of Tesla: D

If former Okie/L. A. auto huckster Cal Worthington were still around, you could treat yourself to his fingernails-on-a-blackboard mispronunciation of Tawyoda Coelicanth - sorry, SEE-lick-uh. Guaranteed to wake you out of your late-night doze on the couch during some dumb movie. PS - Glad that you had the car CAT scanned Obviously got a seal of approval.

My gf is angular. when she gets me over-revved, I blow up. She has a decent sized trunk (not too big though) and I like the rubber top when it is down. she's not cheap, worn out or wrecked but she has been in an accident or two; I can tell from the color of the re-spray.

1st of all they didn't discontinue the Toyota celica they just renamed it the Scion TC. The TC Stood for Toyota celica. Toyota started the Scion division because they wanted to branch off and attract a younger crowd because Toyota has a reputation of being Conservative and boring.

I had one and the tranny went out and it was an automatic and i think the previous owner was a teenager. And i had to replace the radiator went out twice, but I'll take Toyota over and other kind of vehicle.

Scotty I own this car in the '96 model. Same car with the same Barcelona red, only difference is it's a 4-speed manual transmission. Got it for 2800 -- think I got a good deal

I think this is the ugliest generation celica, the fifth generation is the best looking in my opinion. I really wish toyota would continue the celica as an AWD coupe.
