Doing This Will Make Your Car Pass Inspection john smith: 1) The monitor exception depends on the year of your vehicle and state. 2) Save some headache and get the test done as soon as possible. Here in vegas, its every year and they send you a small postcard 30 days before car registration renewal. If the card gets lost in the mail, or you misplace it or otherwise forget about renewal youre sol if your vehicle fails just before it comes up for renewal. You cant renew your registration unless you pass the test. You can apply for a 10 day extension but this doesnt prevent you from being pulled over for expired tags. But, the smog test is good for 90 days so I try to get this done as soon as possible. I made the mistake of waiting too long one year, test failed and I had to go to a smog repair test station. These stations are the biggest ripooff artists. Waiting too long cost me 500 that year. The actual repair took about 10 mins not counting ordering and getting the part but without my approval the garage put my truck on a dynanometer so it was pass the smog test and there wasnt anything I could do about it except fork over 500. 3) Make sure if you have any work done on your vehicle that the garage has a battery backup to preserve the computer state. Why? Because if you disconnect the battery, it clears the computer state and starts the monitor tests all over again which can take a week, weeks or months depending on how often you drive and your drive patterns. You cant get a smog test unless most or all of these are cleared depending on the state you live in and the age of your vehicle. 4) drive cycles Im surprised this isnt mentioned. The monitors are tests that the computer does while youre driving. Each test depends on a particular drive pattern. i. e. driving at a certain speed for a certain amount of time If you disconnect your battery or erase codes, the tests start from the beginning and it could take a week, weeks, or months for you to drive in a certain way for all these tests to pass. As far as I know, in all states that require a smog test you have most or all of these monitors completed before the test. If you dont have a scanner that tells you the state of these tests, you wont know if your vehicle is ready or not for the test. What if they are not ready? You can perform whats called a drive cycle that simulates the conditions that the computer needs to either fail or pass the monitor test. Drive cycles are usually similar to most cars but theyre not all alike. You need to find the drive cycle that matches your vehicle. But, its not simple. You have to find a spot where you live where you can speed up and slow down safely on the road. Ive yet to find a scanner that wouldnt clear codes but Ive also yet to find a scanner that would clear codes but not reset all the monitors. That would be fantastic but Ive yet to see one.

In corrupt eastern europe, it is not so easy as you have it there. In here additionally to exhaust gases they check the brakes - if brakes dont work you fail. If they work, but 1 or more disks/rotors breaks less/more than the others you fail. If hand brake does not work you fail. If hand brake works, but only on 1 wheel you fail. if any of the windows wont roll down you fail. For vans if there is not a wall or metal bars between you and cargo area you fail(requirement for vans. They also sit in each of the seats and make sure all seatbelts work. If 1 seatbelt is missing or worn out you fail. If car has more seats inside than is described in technical title you fail. If dash lights do not work you fail. if abs or airbag lights up you fail. They mostly dont care about check engine or error code reading tough. Then they test tie rods, coil overs etc. If theres too much play somwehere or they are broken you fail. Also body is checked underside. if there are oil/fluid leaks somewhere or rust holes big enough you fail. if you do not have required hazard triangle you fail. PS Also is required to have fire extinguisher that has to be stamped every year by separate company(for money, otherwize they dont accept it and you get a warning.

New York isnt too bad. Outside of the city no pipe test, looks like the same as Texas, same OBD II only. I bought a cheap tool place code reader and cleared the code mine had (some minor EGR issue) and it passed. ABS light on is okay, it just has to stop straight and they check the usual safety crap, one wheel has to come off to inspect the brakes. But youre not going to drive around with non-functioning brakes are you? They still hit me for a bulb and a power steering leak and fixed it without asking, so not sure I will go back there. I walked around it the night before and checked all the bulbs, I even changed one, and they dont indicate which one was changed. And it never left any puddles that indicated power steering. I probably should change out that line but its a pain in the butt to get to. I should make a video just telling how the state essentially paid me to take this van away.

Emissions testing is one of the giant money makers why they keep around the lie of global warming. If they ever reveleaed and pushed the truth as defined by the IPCCs compiled reports in 2015 (proved no global warming, they would be sued by everyone who has had to pay monrey for the money making emissions scheme by the government. Google Game Over, the IPCC Quietly Admits defeat. download, and read the report for yourself. The IPCC is the UNs own panel made to prove global warming. and it proved the opposite. Annual car inspections are also nothing more than a money maker. The state of OH does not have it. You dont hear of more problems b/c of OHs lack of the government sticking their noses into private ownd vehicles (and therefore wallets) annualy. Sad the way we are controlled - this used to be a free country.

My brother had a 1958 Pontiac that had an oil filter inside of a metal canister. It held about 1. 5 quarts of oil. Fortunately, the canister had a drain plug. Currently in California, smog inspection for cars 2000 and newer is just a computer that plugs into the cars OBD2 outlet, and the two computers have a conversation, then transmit the information to the big brother computer in Sacramento. One thing it checks is the VIN number to make sure that the car on the report is the same one it talked to. For cars 1976 to 1999, the car is run on a dynamometer first at 15 MPH, then at 25 MPH, and the tailpipe emissions are measured at these speeds. Some emissions testing places are not bothering to repair their dyno equipment if they break down. The newest car that needs to be tested this way is now 20 years old.

Vermont has near tyrannical inspection laws. The State issues a tablet to each inspection station. As soon as they run the OBD2 test on you, youd better hope you pass. The results go directly to the State, and should you fail, you are flagged, so that you cant go to another mechanic. You cant mechanic shop in VT anymore. Im not going to list everything they check because it would take quite awhile. To pass inspection for this year, it cost me 1300. I had to put a windshield in, 3 wheel bearings, a ball joint, and I had to get a Check Engine code fixed. Turned out to be a malfunctioning connector to the EVAP cannister. Not fun

If you have to show proof of automobile insurance, your insurer should have provided you with several copies along with your every-six-months payment and the policy paperwork for the auto(s) youve got covered. if pulled over for a traffic violation in California, youre required to showthree things to the officer; if you dont have them, that gets added onto the ticket as violations. You need: 1) Your (current) drivers license; 2) Current proof of insurance for the vehicle youre driving, and 3) Current proof of registration for the vehicle youre driving. You must havethose on your person or in the vehicle at all times.

How to pass your annual MOT test in England1) Check all your lights work2) Replace all your wipers with new ones just before the inspection3) Replace all your tires with new ones just before the inspection4) Replace every component in your suspension just before the inspection. 5) Replace the catalytic converteror just accept that if youre lucky it will cost you 20 in wipers, if youre unlucky it will cost 800 in tires and shocks. They have to sell you something, the price they charge for the MOT doesnt cover what the government charges them to let them do MOTs.

What part of Texas are you in. This comment doesnt pertain to this video but I have a question and maybe you can answer. I have a 2013 transit connect and both doors on the side the ones that slide will not open from the inside. I bought it from covert Ford about two months ago. One door didnt work and the other one worked and now it has stopped working as well. We have checked the child lock and thats not what it is. Do you know if this is something Carmen with the transit connect

As far as Texas goes, you are right and wrong on the number of codes you can have. I own a 2001 Pontiac Formula with the LS1 engine in it. It can only have one Fail or Not Ready. If it was a 2000, it could have two. Reason being, in 2001 GM eliminated the EGR system. I guess before 2001, the ERG and something else could be out, but after that it changed. Going from 2 to 1 codes has stopped me several times from passing the smog test.
